i'm glad they made a REAL tutor for guitar. i played RB3 with squire guitar. that was crap, now this is out. i just picked it up. i use my PRS SE electric guitar with it. i think people hate on this because they want you to spend thousands of dollars on lessons. i took lessons but had a bad teacher. so i use this with 21st century method & the alfred method books series. great idea here & i hope it gets better! very happy with it overall. makes scales fun!

I'll admit- I'm intrigued. Mostly by the idea of having a better source than replaying a song 30 times to "sound it out" or fumbling over some crap tabs (if I ever see another claim that a song is written in 16/17 time it'll be too soon). Like everyone else, I do have concerns about rolling over to a buddies house and seeing them hold the neck like a baseball bat or holding down on the pads of their fingers, but I'm hoping maybe the game has some pointers about the little things early on...?

For a game concept I can't applaud this enough.

It won't replace actual lessons, but you've got to take your hat off and recognize that the creativity these guys put into their game is incredible.

The minigames and "real-life-like" effects modification during gameplay, to me, is astonishing.

Bravo, Rocksmith devs.

Will the bitching ever end? First guitarist bitched about people playing guitar hero saying "Get a real guitar.", and now that they are doing that you're bitching because they have a tool to learn. I know there are going to people out there who doesn't advance past the songs they learn on here,but it could ju,p start a lot of disheartened beginners interest.

While it may help give you a better perspective of the fretboard and teach you a few songs, it dosn't eliminate the need for lessons. It also dosn't eliminate the need for practicing regularly. People who play only with this game will more than likely pick up bad habits, and technique is just as important as hitting all the notes.

@Sebajunk Didn't say they were. If you need this game to learn to play than they probably are though. The game tells you what to do and not what not to do. I'm not bashing the game. I've played it the past few weeks. IMO it covers up mistakes, I'll let notes ring out and as long as I'm hiting the notes on the screen it dosn't matter. I don't think this is something for somebody whos totally unfamiliar with guitar. I hope those just starting work on how there playing rather than what they play.

@Emogal1991 I don't think its a good idea, for me its giving people who do nothing with their life a skill that other people work hard for, instead of devoting hours into learning the guitar, they are just playing more video games. I self taught myself how to play, and I'm doing damn good. But I didn't learn it from a video game. I learned it from hours of learning songs and new ways to strum and finger pick. Now I'm very good, Its my passion in life. Its a gift, not a game.
