a synthi A..... i own one... its in a samsonite briefcase... I also have the cricklewood keyboard for it.. thats rare... and two modules encased in wood..... ive been offered over $7000 for the lot
I GUARANTEE... if we went head to head live... you have ARP2600 and me with Muse Research Receptor loaded with OMNISPHERE.... and other soft synths.... my show would dazzle them 1000x as much....
I saw the Frankenstein tour with Edgar Winter.... like i said good for their day... and yes i know about cold 80s synths... had a DX7 but coupled it with Roland MKS80 superjupiter.
Well, there's no doubt you'd be able to create more complex sounds, but there is something to be said for visual impact and the entertainment value which exists in physical manipulation of a musical instrument. I guarantee keyboard enthusiasts would be more excited about seeing a 2600 on stage. In the end, we'd probably be playing our asses off, and the audience would be looking at the guitar player. ; )
Well, strangely enough, a lot of people who had or played the great synths of the 70s in the 70s still own, use, and swear by them. You might also remember the 80s, where a lot of people with your viewpoint changed their mind when they discovered how inexpressive and cold digital synthesizers sounded. Granted, software synthesis is infinitely more powerful than analog synthesis, it still lacks the desirable aural quality which makes these synthesizers valuable.
i owned one of these in teh 70s..... so gimme a break.
i had these when you were in diapers.. they were over $3000..... and had mini moog and mellotron. OUT of tune analog is not that appealing in retrospect
I might be a bit older than you suspect, but fair enough.
One might wonder why you shelled out $3000 for something so "out of tune." I don't have any tuning problems with any of my analog synthesizers... unless you mean the fact that you have to tune them. In that case, I'm sure you save your self seconds or even minutes of time per year with software. ; )
Well, nothing is stopping you. They're cheap and plentiful. Stop wasting your time watching videos about historic musical instruments and buy your software!
I'm sorry if it's cruel! I just want to make sure no one feels rushed in the viewing.
I have done it with a lot of the analogs! The 2600 videos are just way more in depth because the danged thing is so complicated. I do plan to make another Minimoog video, though... something showing the breadth of timbral opportunity! I would like to do a Memorymoog, a VCS3, an MS-20 (I had one, but I never demoed it) and some Oberheim stuff... but I don't have any of those!
so sexy.

I have an EMS Aks with Cricklewood keyboard... its cool to have the synth they made DARK SIDE OF THE MOON WITH.
Dont play it much.. but i was offered 6k by a Japanese fella
mysticradio 3 years ago
You are morally obligated to give the EMS to me. : )
AutomaticGainsay 3 years ago
Actually, the synth they used for Dark Side was the EMS Synthi 1 (I think).

that intro makes it feel like tuning into a favorite tv show each week, especially with your cruel postponing of videos. ;)
you realize you now must do this for every synthesizer ever made (at least the analogs).
