  • Rules for being safe on Halloween

    1. Avoid anyone huge shambling figures that are wearing boiler suits, white william shatner masks, and are brandishing a butcher knife

    2. Avoid wearing any masks made by Silver Shamrock

    3. Skip the Silver Shamrock Horror Marathon

  • dat's racist!

  • The most safest way of spending Halloween is to just not go out of the house... This video is funny!

  • That is a witch costume! Have any of you people ever seen an actual KKK robe? Geez. "Oh, a white pointy hat, must be KKK" No. Face mask with eye holes in them? Now you are talking KKK. Figure it out people!

  • Steps for halloween: (1): Throw away all there masks (2): Kick them out of the house till Curfew (3): Make them piss on cop cars (4): Put weed in there candy when there away (5): If the cops complain, Kick them in the penis (6): Hide your kid in the closet (7): Go to bed (8): Sell the "stuff" on EBay (9): if kids complain, say dad ate it all (10): Commit suicide
  • 4:15 jst in case some1 steals candy

  • Haha. What a load of shit. Part of the coolness of being a kid when I was growing up was doing stupid shit and learning from it (or just doing it, like smashing my teeth through my lip). I remember spraining my ankle when I was trick or treating once on my own and hobbling around on a sugar high for the rest of the night. Who wants to wear light colors on Halloween?

  • Well FIRST OF FUCKING ALL, why would her mother let her go ALONE?

  • @TheAryonB Because back in the day kids were allowed to go out trick or treating by themselves. Now everybody is freaked out of child abductions etc, but in the 70s, when this video was made, kids as young as 4 and 5 regularly were out by themselves walking around. Now we treat kids like retards and pretty much don't let them have any freedom at all. And before anyone bitches, there were just as many abductions and killings in the 70s and earlier.

  • Mind if I riff this?

  • @TheDazro OMG please riff this! Then send me the link :D

  • @TheDazro Oh yeah, please by all means go for it. In fact I've uploaded a higher rez version of the full transfer on Vimeo that should be super easy to download (same title as the file here.) Have fun/ ought to be cool!

  • 2:52 she said round it off not cut it in half

  • 3:47 a fricking KKK

  • "what about that color"

    racist-

  • ahh i miss these..

  • Mike Nelson, Tom Servo and Crow . . . where are you when we need you to rifftrax this presentation?

  • you always need to right your # on your sac lol

  • I wish kids could still trick or treat at night like I did in the 70's. It was so much more fun then.

  • @captjamestquirked so where do you live? I think in most of the USA people still trick or treat at night. They still do here in massachusetts. I know some towns have outlawed it but I think that is in the minority

  • I think the only thing wrong with her costume was that she had no adult supervision. Who'd let a little kid run around and go to strangers houses alone at night?

  • @doodoocake true.true.

  • @doodoocake you have to remember this was 1977....still a fairly safe time to be a kid. I went trick or treating in the early / mid 1960s and kids would go out alone at 8 years old and up.....but usually in pairs or a group of kids (not with an adult). I remember we would trick or treat in as far a radious as 5 blocks in any direction (in the Boston suburbs). Halloween was always my favorite holiday....even to this day

  • Huh I had no idea Halloween died this long ago. Way to go!

  • Seriouly lady, i hope u dont hav ekids, if u do theyre probabley shut ins who cant go outside because theyre not "safe enough", theyre hant use pencils in school cause the pencils are to sharp and they cant eat a sandwhich because the breads 2 hard. imagine christmas with this lady omg :D

  • @brucebrucebruce900 LOL....i was thinking the same thing......this film is a great way to turn your kids into fearful, depressed, Agorophobics

  • Dressing as a KKK member for haloween isnt as fun as it sounds.

  • funny .... stuff very education

  • That's what it's like to put a mask in front on a camera, not on your face. Not saying it won't affect your vision but it's nowhere near that bad.

  • That's what it's like to put a mask in front on a camera, not on your face. Not saying it won't affect your vision but it's nowhere near that bad.

  • That would be the MANUFACTURER'S fault if you had a mask like that, dumbasses! And just listen to the way the bland narrator says "Ow! That hurts!" in such deadpan, utterly robotic fashion. Children were once expected to learn from shit like this, people.

  • my mom always puts reflective tape on my candy bag :) But i soooo wouldnt let her put it on my COSTUME!

  • my mom always puts reflective tape on my candy bag :) But i soooo wouldnt let her put it on my COSTUME! Also my friends was wearing a mask and some one came up behind her and kidnapped her. Luckily she was found... DONT wear a mask unless it has big eye holes

  • One, a BONESAW to cut part of a costum?? Plus, WHO THE HELL DRIVES ON HOLLOWEEN NIGHT???????????

  • 4:15 huh?

  • Oh NO!!! She looks KKK in that costume. Holy smoke!!!

  • Did you notice the familiar sneaking into the shot?

  • Just go as a construction worker, then. Geez.

  • 1. Why is a 7 year old girl trick or treating by herself in the first place?!

    2. Who would hand out peanuts to trick or treaters?!

    3. How does a little girl go from looking like a witch to a storm trooper?

  • So mom shortens the skirt, with PINS. That's brilliant mom!

  • at 4:21 that way when you lose your kid someone will mail it back to you.

  • At 3:3o how the hell is giving the a kkk costume safer.

  • @TheZoProductions - Exactly! While they're at it, they should give her a burning cross so the cars can see her. Sheeeeeesh. How daft can a person be to actually take this vid seriously? I'm by no means racist but that's exactly what the witch costume turned into!

  • at 2:50 remeber to give your kids hack saws to cut down on danger.

  • At 3:30, she is wearing a kkk costume

  • ArtOfBleeding: Great stuff!

    - Jason

  • Hi Jason. I enjoyed your blog on searching for (and appearing in this film). I have an older 16mm print, which you can see "reworked" on my account. Enjoy!

  • what an ugly costume. what was her mother thinking?

  • "You can see straight in front of you, but you can't see that hUGE 18-WHEELER HEADING STRAIGHT FOR YOU-"

"Unfortunately, this little witch wasn't so lucky. And she will remember this Halloween for the rest of her life. Haha, just kidding she's dead."

  • random cat FTW

  • for some reason this video gave me nightmares after they showed it at school when i was a kid

  • Oh goodie what if your candy bag is lost? if your average thief/Home invader can waltz in your house and is it???????

  • It's a really good thing they made so many changes to little Susie's costume. This way, she'll be clearly seen by Johnny the Panel Van Driving Pedophile as she walks alone down the street at night. =) Yay!

  • poor little witch

  • So no black costumes, no long skirts, no carrying props, no masks, no eating your candy... I think the real message is 'Just stay home on Halloween'.

  • (2:35) "We are Siamese if you please!"

  • I think it's a lot more dangerous to be dressed up like a junior KKK member covered in reflective tape...

  • word

  • "It's usually easy to shorten brooms..." hahaha

  • ITS THE KKK!!!!

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on here a minute-

To be safe, little girl, write your name and adress and phone number on a bag that we think you're likely to drop.

Uh huh. You wanna' go ahead and add your age and mothers maiden name?

  • not wear a mask?

  • Well, when I went out trick-or-treating a few years back with my friends, I had a mask on (it was a cheap latex "Hungry Wolf" mask I bought from an online costume store), but it had excellent vision and I was able to wear it for the most part, but occasionally take it off between houses where areas would be hazardous. My werewolf costume also had a light-colored ripped "werewolf" shirt, so that helped plenty.

  • The one danger they didn't mention was getting your ass kicked by other kids for wearing a retarded looking witch costume covered with reflective tape.

  • That was Michael Myers in the station wagon that nearly hit the witch.

  • "Hey jerk! Speeed kills!"

  • LOL!!

  • The title is wrong. The real title is "How to turn a little girl wearing a witch costume into a member of the Jr. Ku Klux Klan".

  • I remember seeing this in school back in the very early 80's...they used to call all of the kids in school to the gymnasium and we would all watch. I even remember all the nasty smells from the kids who would fart while watching the movie.

  • At the beginning, the girl starts as a creepy looking witch. After the worthless cops are done lecturing her on halloween safety, she's just another stupid kid walking around in a white robe.

  • That's a girl?

  • I wouldn't let my child wander around on their own, especially today.....in any country!!

  • My cat makes has a brief walk on part in this film. She steals the scene.

  • I'd be pissed at the house that gave me peanuts.

  • Rifftrax needs to do this one, it's not like Mike Nelson and Centron are strangers.

  • What a waste of footage! This must have been designed back in the day because it doesn't address realistic issues that would be relevant to OUR time.

  • Yeah, you know, I think it's pretty clear that it was made in a different time...

  • I remember seeing this one in school..

  • I hate how they put roman numbers for the copyright date

  • Looks like a KKK member..

  • wouldn't it be so much easier if the said "bring a grown up with you" doing all that ruins the fun halloween is ment for -.-"

  • just to be sure, lets tie her with pillows and giveher a football helmet and pay to have bodyguards surround her with a moving wall of matresses. But make sure you cover ti all in reflective tape.

  • that poor little girl. they castrated any fun she might have had. lol, lets saw off half of her broom, dress her as a klansmen, wrapping her in reflective tape, snatching up her mask. a cardboard broom is USUALLY safer. however, it might light on fire so dont carry one.

  • Man that film is SCARY if you turn down the volume and just watch the pictures.

  • This short is unbelievable. I was just expecting the woman at any moment to say, "We could cut the holes on your mask, but with all this stupid altering to your costume we did, why would you even want to be seen trick or treating?"

  • Of COURSE, a police chief in New Jersey was the advisor on this. This state makes it public policy to stop you from doing anything that might hurt yourself... such as, having any kind of fun whatsoever. No problem with exorbitant taxes that might drive you to suicide though!

  • Apparently, reflective materials and flashlights didn't exist in 1977.

  • Oops, spoke too soon. Still, don't expect to get too much candy when you trick or treat as a klansmen.

  • This film takes all the fun out of Halloween.

  • She's gone from being a witch to the flying nun!

  • SHe would get punched for wearing a klan costume in my neighborhood.

  • Centron! I remember this thing! This lady was annoying and condescending even to my 5 year old self.

  • LOL.

  • That white witch costume sux.

  • Thanks for posting! I remember they always showed this PSA every Halloween at school before we went home to go trick or treating.

  • You can simply NOT wear a mask?! Lady, are you for real?! First, you make the kid feel dumb for wearing black, then you shame her for carrying a broom, then you bust her chops & suggest pitching the mask. DON'T DO IT, KID! Take a chance and have fun! If you survive the night, you'll be a stronger person. Remember: you are dressing as a witch, not Gandalf. Also, find out where the narrator lives and light a bag of dog crap on her porch.

  • omg is this for real? my god, you americans are crazy!

  • How old is that vid? I dont remember this one...I remember watching one at school about safety on the train tracks...Trying to find it!

  • I saw this every year in elemantary school! Thought I'd never see it again. Thanks so much for putting this up.

  • Fantastic :)

  • Thank you for posting this it reminds me of "educational" films I used to watch in elementary and middle school. That mother turned that little girl into a KKK member for halloween! LOL that's a lot scarier then a witch IMO.
