I want one sooooo, bad. But 3K for a plastic/aluminum gun 2-3 MOA rifle......I mean a good custom bolt gun can be had for less. Damn I still want one though.
Great gun! Battery of arms is a little messed up if you've never shot a bullpup.
Hows Abby range looking lately? Haven't been there in years, thinking about getting a membership if there's still space for 2012.
I bought every $2000+ NR rifle just because I was NR. I'm sure I wouldn't have dropped $2k on a XCR when I could get a SR15 for an extra $500 that was "bush legal."
@NorStarReviews Abby is the best range especially if you're a tactical shooter. Join the ATS sub club there also. Tons of fun!!! Also, don't count out the KelTec SU16, great NR black rifle. Lots of plastic but still a great runner...$799!!
Ye gads!! K....I work a lot of good paying contract work. Getting one of these wouldnt be an issue but the price tag is steep. I really like what I see in that rifle.
One word: Yes or No? (Still gotta save some pennies but I like it and its non restricted lol. I cant play with my CQ-A like I would this).
@civiladvantage Lol k thanks :D I make the cash easy when work is good so bills first then I am looking into this puppy for sure. I also heard Norinco is now making a 10.5' AR. Heard of em, and where do they sell them? My 14.5' CQ-A so far has been perfect aside from the crosspin going that holds in the ejector rod in my bolt. Cost me like $10 to fix it after a year and maybe 1000 rounds or more and back to perfect and highly accurate.
@civiladvantage Right on :D I looked at Marstar and Wolverine Supplies, no dice. Know here I can pick one up (the 10.5' upper for the AR)? If I can get this Tarvor by the way I'll have to make sure I do a video. It will be by far the most expensive rifle I have ever had lol! Thanks for the info!
@shkotay SFRC has the uppers. I've only done one transaction with them but it was good. Seems like their service is good too, which is rare in the firearms business.
Does anyone know why this is non restricted and an AR is? Is it just perception of the weapons? IE looks like the M16 which even folks who don't know anything about firearms may associate with a military weapon due to movies etc so that makes it dangerous? Maybe why AK's are "evil"? More political bull crap when it comes to our gun laws.
I'm not saying this is mil spec but why do people worry so much about doing something like releasing the bolt on an empty chamber. In the military after assembly of the weapon you do a function test. For all the hands rifles, pistols and machine guns go through if that was hard on the weapon then the weapons would get worn out just from assembly and function tests.
@skullpheonix6 This is true. One other option is the Kel-tec SU-16. I bought one and they rock!! I've been threatening to do a review on it but I should make good in the next week or two.
@civiladvantage:Um I am sorry to bother you,but um would you happen to know when the tar-21 is going to be avalible in the US.Ifyou happen to know please respond.
I totally Agree with that, After speaking with a friend of mine thats in the IDF and uses one of these things on a Daily basis, I think after hearing the past three reviews the US military should invest in researching Bullpup Designs.
@Sturmgewehre Tim, at SHOT Show 2012 BullpupForum interviewed Michael Kassnar of Trans World Arms about the TAVOR's introduction to the US market. There were a few TAR-21's @ SHOT, they are going to be US produced by Charles Daly they have already been approved by the ATF to be made in in the US. The "scheduled release date" is "late Sept, early Oct". You can find the video by searching: (BullpupForum Tavor interview) here on YouTube, I plan on getting one as soon as they are out!
The AR is restricted for no reason. Just plain lack of knowledge on the part of those who have influence in these policies. We have serious issues in Canada with how our regulations are made. Everyone that supports firearm ownership must respond if our rights are threatened and participate in reform. Hate to be all militant but this is a sore spot for me. It is "over the top" pointless and oppressive.
So why is that non restricted and the AR is? I never understood why an AR is, my dad and I are trying do get one for Christmas lol. And by Abby do you mean the one on Harris rd? Cool review and cool looking firearm.
one thing I disagree with...4 ARs for the price of one Tavor...wrong. 4 bone stock Norinco CQAs sure, but lets keep apples to apples here. Don't get me wrong, I love my Norc as well, but it is NOT comparable to the Tavor. realistically you can get 2 good quality ARs for the price...but again, restricted vs non, thats the kicker. Love my Tavor, awesome coyote/sled rifle.
Hey J, yes it's Abby. The mag is Tapco. Thanks for the info on the ejection port conversion. I hadn't looked into that. Thankfully I'm right-handed. Whenever students ask if I have advice for left-handed shooters I say "learn to shoot right-handed". The conversion might be expensive but I could see lefties finding it worth it.
@civiladvantage I wouldn't recommend that unless the lefty is cross-eye dominant. I'm a lefty myself and have never had any issues shooting any conventional rifles or shotguns from the left shoulder. And I've shot quite a few.
Even many right-side ejecting bullpups can be shot from the left shoulder without rounds hitting your face. Check out /watch?v=qy0FlnXCWxQ
The range you're using, is that Abby? The mag device, which one is that?
The sad thing about the ambi ejection port is, it's not as easy as taking the face plate off. You'll need (last time I checked) a $200 left handed replacement bolt.
The rifle is costly, no doubt. But, I sure like going into the bush as you mentioned. I looked at the Classic Green for a long time, and decided on the Tar21 based on size and weight.
Does it take AR mags?

@NovaScotiaNewfie Ar-15 has been restricted for a good while, i believe the reason is because its considered an m16 variant, i could be wrong
