San Francisco born and raised, I think they are funny. But I understand. I spent 2 years in Michigan; snow was totally new to me, and the sudden rain and hail storms, hard and short, with the ground totally dry 10 minutes later, freaked me out. During a quake I just make sure I'm away from power lines, glass, trees, and anything else that could fall on me, then calmly stay put. And once it's over, it's over...until the next time. After my 2nd quake, when I was 10, it was no big deal.
