Lol if anyone has taken any psych classes will know what he's doing, which he cant be obvious about it. I forgot what the proper term for this behavior is but when some one is so against something to such an extreme its usually because they are into it. An example is those politicians that make such tough laws on prostitution then a scandal pops up that involves them and escorts/prostitutes, Eliot Spitzer is a prime example.

Trust me, I grew up in northern illinois and lived in MN too for a long while, and that type of voice for a man in those parts is rather typical. I think it's because it's more laid back there, so people get more relaxed in there speech maybe. IDK. But I do know it's like that up there, my own step dad speaks like that too. he's a U.P. kid so accent is different but the softness in the voice isn't.
