Isn't it overpriced? All the eletric pianos are great, I like especially all the electric grand and the rodes. The classic melotron flutes (Beatles) and voices (Jarre) are cool, but the other Melotron samples sound like a bad Roland Sound Canvas in this video. Some people say that the acoustic pianos aren't good. Is it true?
@fabiovsroque Take a look at clavia's website, they've got plenty of samples that are available for free that you can download to the Electro 3/HP, Stage 2 etcetera, with previews so you can listen. There are some really heavy piano samples that are amazing and very authentic.
M3000 HD mellotron on iPad sounds better in my opinion. I just can't choose between the KORG SV-1 which has a great scala of rhodes sounds, but electro 3 wins on organs and clavinet.
When you think about it, that's a lot of factor settings. I mean, mine only has like 10, so this is like the bomb of bombs or me. Good demo though. I'll give him credit for that.
As an owner of the electro 3 61, I'd have to say it is the best keyboard out over all. This demo doesn't do it very much justice because these are the worst sounds the nord has to offer. They put these sounds on the keyboard as factory settings because they're small in memory and they take up less space. The nord website has sounds that are 10 times better available as free downloads. The pianos aren't as nice as Yamaha but every other sound is killing (or equivalent to) all the other keyboards.
Does this keyboard have weighted keys? I'm thinking about trading in my motif xs8 for one of these. I don't really need the motif for the work station stuff as much as I thought I would because I'm mainly using midi stuff now when I record, but I'm drawn to these because they have such great organ sounds. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions for me? I mainly use the motif for touring/performing and it is a pain the ass to move. Any responses would be appreciated!
@chrisacopland the electro is very light (the 73 key version is about 9kg and the 61 is lighter) but this means it doesn't have weighted keys. it's got keys that are similar to a hammond organ, springy waterfall keys, not lipped piano keys.
@tyleryesta1 Big problem for you is it? of great annoyance? Why didn't you just say thats Bob James "Angela". Thats all you really wanted to say anyway but you had to hide your boast inside a complaint.
you have two nice keyboards and get you don't have a clue how to play other than the couple of sloppy songs you picked up out of trying to justify owning them and putting up a youtube video for attention
Nice sound demoing but if I may say one thing? You should go for a different approach on different sounds. Meaning demoing the the sound in a more usable way. For example the bluesy licks work on a rhodes but not that well on the strings section etc.
But still like I said, it was nice to hear all the sounds from the Nord 3.
Great playing sir.. but question for the play impaired ( i think this is the word lol) does it have a transpose function so I could play a song on c and it would come out as F if I needed once I would know how to play the song on C and the singer on F I hope you understand what I mean. please let me know.. I really depend on that to buy me one of this awesome boards.
the strings are from a mellotron, so they aren't really supposed to sound any more "real" than a hammond is supposed to sound just like a pipe organ , follow me?
Is it just me or is the mellotron a little off? Not a big fan of what I heard here...maybe I am just missing it...The M-Tron sounds alot better though as of now.
@saidder Yamaha has a new one coming out called the s70. It has 73 weighted action keys. I haven't heard it yet.
I bought a korg Sv1. I think it has better acoustic piano than the Nord. I think the electric piano sounds are just as good as are the clav. sounds. I don't care for the organ sounds but it has weighted action and only 73 keys. Great Rhodes sounds.

i meant more letting go of each note, but as you mention that....for the price of one of these you would of thought it could handle changing sample/patchs without cutting and just keep the reverb going or something :)
When you download sounds from the library, upon machine turn-on, do you have to reload samples into ram every time, or are they immediately available upon switch-on?
no, the electro 3 is monotimbral. Anyway, MathaeusBech, for your next video, idk, for the Hammond you can show off the lesile simulation, and the different organs such as the vox, and farfisa. As for the effects, you could use the auto-wah to show off the clavinet, tremelo for the wurli, the reverb with different settings, and the EQ with some of the pianos and organs. Your video was good for this demo, but you could have played a little longer for some of the sounds, but it was really good
As pianodave said it isn't, but you can split the organ in to a lower part and a upper part with two different drawbar settings, I will be showing you how it works in my demo of the organ soon :D
Electro 2 or Electro 3?? which one would you guys rate as im deciding which on to get and there is a huge price difference and just wana get some ideas of what people think of the 2 compared cheers xmattx
I've been using the Nord 2 because the semi-weighted keys are a good compromise for playing piano then organ and it travels well. The Nord 3 has more internal memory and better piano sounds but the fully weighted keys have stopped me from buying it because I use the Nord mostly for it's B3 simulation.
I say Electro 3 all the way. Yes, there's a huge price difference, but the Electro 3 has the ability to download sounds from the Nord Wave library (which includes the awesome mellotron, among TONS of other great sounds); the Electro 2 is limited to what's onboard. Plus, with the Electro 3 you get the Farfisa and Vox organs, which I'm not sure are on the Electro 2. But just for the Nord Wave Library alone, I saved up and got the Electro 3...and with no regrets.
Although the keyboard has some excellent sounds Rhodes, Whirly A200, B3 and Clav, there seem to be a number of sounds that don't seem to be that dynamic...or useful. The pianos are OK, but I prefer thae ones in my Kurzweil PC2X. I'd like to know the price of this unit. Thanks for the information. I alaso agree that the piano sounds in the Kurzweil are far better than the ones available in the Electro #. My PC2X blows then away...In fact, my old Kurz. PC88 which is late
1990's vintage has better piano sounds than the electro. I own 2 Rhodes EP's a 1976 73 note stage, and a 1977 73 note suitcase, and the Rhodes piano sounds in the Nord are virtually identical in quality...at a much lesser hauling weight.
Multitimbral, synth section, delay, capable of using amp sim, leslie and compressor simultaneously, patch naming and more intuitive patch navigation, panel function, amount knobs for effects, MIDI controller, pitch stick / mod wheel.
Electro 3:
Increased RAM memory, sample playback (mellotrons, strings, horns, pipe organs and more, and also user custom samples), frequency modulation effect, improved organ/leslie, more organ presets (these also include vib/cho and perc settings).
That's a really useful comparision! I actually didn't realize it, but the electro 3 is probably closer to what I need - I thought the stage EX could do everything the electro could do and more - actually is almost does less
that's probably because it's not up for retail in the states yet. I heard it should be coming to the US during the 2nd quarter of the year. as for the price it's £1399 for the 61 key model and £1599 for the 73 key model, which is roughly $1937 and $2214 respectively
Thank you very much, not sure if i should get the electro or the stage. I first i wanted the electro 2 and then I saw your video of the 3. i like the fact that one can download sounds into the electro 3.
Can you edit envelope settings on the samples you load, even if only on the PC? ie if I have a string sample can I lengthen its sustain? I know you can't do it with the keyboard controls but can you do it on the PC?
thanks for this video guy ! it's allways a pleasure to discover some bits of the NE3 soud... i just can't wait the organ section demo... then i'll run to my music store to buy me one !!!
Can you give me this please?

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't find any demos of the harpsichord or vibes. I would love to hear the Wurlitzer as well. Thank you!

What was the song intro you were playing on the first piano parts and then repeated when you played the celeste, etc.?

how much is this keyboard. I can't find it on sale in the US?
derrickkwilliams 3 years ago
that's probably because it's not up for retail in the states yet.

Are those prices MSRP?

Thank you so much!
The extra sound (harp, mallets...) come from the mellotron library or not ? I don't know very well the original mellotron sounds... :( )

Awesome demo thanks so much! Can't wait to hear the organs!
Those mellotron samples were sweet. #8 makes me think Strawberry Fields Forever, and #9 sounds just like Got to Get You Into My Life.
I hope to get one of these as soon as I can!
Anyone know when they'll be available in the states?

Can you edit envelope settings on the samples you load, even if only on the PC? ie if I have a string sample can I lengthen its sustain? I know you can't do it with the keyboard controls but can you do it on the PC?
