  • Oh dear Lord, why did they have to make him a Jack Sparrow?!? I like Jack as well as the next Pirates-obsessed fan, but the pirate King of Penzance MUST HAVE THE PURPLE TROUSERS!

  • NOOO!!! NOT A JACK SPARROW!!! DX WHERE ARE THE TIGHT, PURPLE PANTS!?

  • @plottinganime I WANT THE PURPLE TROUSERS! MUST HAVE THE PURPLE TROUSERS!

  • what the hell did I just see? I fell in love with it^^

  • I saw this production and it was great! I didn't understand half of it lol, but it was amazing! entertaining, definitely. :-D

  • Fantastic! Love Anthony! :-)

  • I am sure that Johnny Depp is impressed with Anthony Warlow's awesome, asskicking, fun loving (slightly tipsy) Pirate King.

  • AW so clever and talented

  • bravo opera australia

  • Yes, he does copy the manerisms of Johnny Depp.

  • I hate the Jack Sparrow influence. The concept is ruined when it moved from Treasure Island to Pirates of the Caribbean.

    Will it ever recover?

  • I've been searching for a pirate king who isn't ridiculously, flamboyantly homosexual, and THIS is what I get!?

    Hell, I'll take it.

  • @t3hfuhr3r Try Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece.

  • @Randomguyname YUUUUUUUUUUP!

  • bravo Opera Australia !

  • ...jack sparrow...is that...jack sparrow???

  • 0:24 alike jack Sparrow

  • Awesome!!!

  • loving the jack sparrow influence :)

  • he played the pirate king deliberately as jack sparrow so people who may not know the opera but are aware of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy of movies could enjoy the opera more

  • What year is this?

  • Captain Jack Sparrow. On which all awesome Pirate characters are based :D

  • Captain Jack Sparrow :D

  • Jack Sparrow. Oh lord I love you!

  • I LOVED seeing this. <3

  • guess where jack sparrow came from?

  • @cloudyhat think you will find this came after jack sparrow i had the same inpression for a while

  • i never knew jack sparrow could sing that good :o

  • Come ON! enough with the Jack Sparrow!

  • He is SO funny......

  • He sings this up a half step.

  • @Maretocks yeah they used the wig and beard from captain Jack

  • Not as good as the Jon English version, but a good production nonetheless

  • I saw this. It wasn't a bad production.

  • This is my favorite version of PoP. Andrew Warlow is just amazing. First time watching it I actually thought he was Johnny Depp. I wasn't disappointed at though cause Warlow just blew my mind away.

  • This is even more Hilarious now that they made the pirate king Jack Sparrow! haha! And where can I find even more clips from this!?

  • This is even more Hilarious now that they made the pirate king Jack Sparrow! haha!

  • what a total waste of his voice....

  • @dmcgoo111

What? You have something against G&S?

  • @EuphrasieF . No, I love the show but the way he has performed this version of the song does not do him justice.... his voice is more capable than this. I went and watched the show, understood why he was doing it but was disappointed that he did.

  • I wish there were less jack sparrow comments and more awesome G at the end!

That G totally rocks. I wanna see his largo...

    ...that sounds wrong.

  • No this is where they found the Jack Sparrow character from - over 100 years earlier. I've played the Pirate King, it's a fabulous part, and Warlow is great! Well done Anthony!!!

  • Anthony Warlow and David Hobson are great! I have seen them in many things but to have them together is fantastic.

  • yay jacksparrow XD

  • Great performance! And the Jack-Sparrow-look - way cool! *gg*

  • That looks familiar

  • So i totally saw this at the sydney opera house. twas amazing.

  • ahhh i want to see this...this is Anthony Warlow, Pirates of the Penzance AND Jack Sparrow merged into one? that's unbelievable. Wish I live in Sydney.

  • Oh my heck... Anthony Warlow who played Enjolras (the noble student leader of the rebellion) in Les Miserables as The Pirate King gone Jack Sparrow?!!? HAHAHA This is too good...lol

  • @WhenDestinyCallsUs

    *cough* CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow.

  • All I can think is Jack Sparrow.

  • @Maretocks Thats good cause Anthony based his character betrayal on Jack Sparrow.

  • @Maretocks Maybe I'm mad...but I think that's the point.

  • @Maretocks he did that on purpose to draw people who didn't know the show to see it. =) I think it's genius.

  • @Maretocks CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, if you please :)

  • Indeed. There should be a Captain in there, somewhere...

  • @Maretocks same here dude

  • @Maretocks That, funnily enough, was the intention..

  • @dansfc31

I don't know what would be better/lamer; the Pirate King portrayed as Jack Sparrow or the Pirate King portrayed as Monkey D. Luffy?

  • @Maretocks That's "Captain Jack Sparrow" to you, mate. Savvy?

  • @Maretocks That's quite deliberate on their part, and very funny! LOL!

  • saw this yesterday, loved it, jack sparrow makes an awesome pirate king XD

  • @Shmoofles on ABC1?

  • @DannyV1991

    at the opera house XD

  • @Shmoofles i'm seeing it in just a few hours at the opera house myself

  • This production was purloined by D'Oyly Carte for the 1993-1994 season (the last at the Opera House Manchester) and seen in London as recently as 1998.

  • Brook-Glen doing this show for the carmel reporty theater

  • A song G&S might as written for my brother Mark Pittman. He is my Pirate King!
