Takes it way too far. Throwing out things before they're used up? Excuse me - talk about wasteful!! Also, the whole thing about making his wife so uncomfortable is not cool. Forcing stuff like this on others is against the whole idea of this kind of change - it should be voluntary, not forced out of you because you love someone. In short, he seems like more than a bit of a DICK.
@Serai3 That's a very short sided way to look at it, and without all the facts. If you read the book, it was HER idea to get rid of the TV, and several other things. Yes, at times she was uncomfortable, but in the book she's behind him because as uncomfortable as she was, she could see the enormous positive impact their new life style was having on her family; and instead of being petty, let the overall good outweigh moments of discomfort.
