Good luck to the miners! Historically mining's a dangerous business. Health and Safety is never more serious then when in a mine. I wonder if their work site is union friendly? Let's hope any appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence will be taken.

Chili is famous for their glaciers, I recall. Sending down sticks of glaciers can acutally work as a natural cooler. It is a method that has been used in areas in the world (not glaciers but blocks of ice), including places like Japan, when they did not have electric cooler systems. It really works!

One thing that worries me is the Chilians, especially those in the Northern part of Chili are probably unaware that people can actually die in heat. With temperature as high as 34 degrees celsius and humidity high. I think the first thing the government and the rescue team must do is to find some solution to lower their surrounding temperature.
