I struggle with 2nd Person POV so I tend to shy away from it. And I am horrible at keeping my tenses correct, though that is why I love the editing/editor process. :)
I never think about my POV and tense - the story usually just dictates it to me. If a first line comes into my head, it'll have those things with it and I'll just go with them. But! If it doesn't work, it'll drift into a different tense or POV and I just go back and fix it.
So it's probably not best to let your story do your thinking for you... but I just can't stop.
I swear I have such a problem with that! Especially when I've let some time lapse between writing pieces of the same story or when I've gotten on a roll and am not paying close enough attention.

I think most people should stay away from it, but it's useful if you know how to use it. (Or if you want to try and learn.)
