XP is a great OS if you have decent hardware. 2000 is good too, but finding software for it is a bit more tedious nowadays as newer versions for modern programs are starting to cut support for it.

Windows 95 was the operating system and that is where I learned about computers and how they work. Ah, the good ole days.
