In the book Hannah has four siblings. Brother Robert was not included in the movie. Robert was also kind to Hannah and after his fathers death ran away to America folowad by John and his wife...
Wow, what a horrible manner in which to see your mother for the last time. I would have ran out there and begged my mommy to stay. So sad. The class structure of that time made people have to go through tragic events... a little girl having to be left by her mom like that because of a lack of finances and support from her dad. He probably didn't even know that she existed, but still... :-(
Yeah, their camaraderie with Hannah is great. The siblings are pretty nice to her too. They were like, "Yeah, sure, mum, we're totally not going to talk to her. Psyche!"
@3houd Hi,..Mom said to youngest child"fetch me the whip"In a mean, monsterious way.you can SEE the young child HESITATE.then mom says"DOO AS I SAY",.young child didnt "run" becasue she wanted to see the girl get whiped.she ran becasue of fear,of her authorities.
I do like Hannah's hair at the start, proper mad.

You can already tell the youngest sister is going to be a brat.

The mother is cruel and vengeful, but ultimately she's digging her own grave.

@Twi5Productions But look at the way she looked around before she went in that room. She did know she wasn't supposed to be there.
