  • The movie is a series of stories connected by the green ball, some sort of evil entity. This story has planes, there's another with some stoned aliens in a spaceship, a couple others are just stories that take place on alien worlds. But rent it - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

  • The beginning probably looks scratchier because it was rotoscoped from footage of an actual B-52 bomber. Notice the rest of the animation in this sequence is pretty clean after the opening. This is definitely from the original 1981 Heavy Metal.

  • I dig the segment of Lincoln Stern and Hanover Fist too. I love the animation, it is much different from anime but it is like the american realistic animation. And all the voices were done by Second City TV from Canada. Eugene Levy,John Candy etc...

    (Nitpick: The radioman and waistgunners were obviously killed by enemy fighter planes, but this would not have happened. Fighters wouldn't be sent after Allied bombers during a flak barrage because the chances would be too great that the flak bursts would bring down the fighter planes too.)
