Great Video & 3 lovely fish . You made it look easy but to choose the right fly & present it at the right place & then play it so coolly takes alot of skill .
When is the best time to fish the Alta ? Your video has inspired me to go
For all you haters out there talking about releasing first of all he is in his rights so its his choice. Second salmon that big only take 4-7 years to get that big so its not like your taking out a one in a million out of a gene pool. Last those fish werent even coloured up! the last one he caught was still chrome it was just throwing its colours on. Why dont you all get out and catch something yourself instead of trolling forums.
nice catch, you need all that protien to catch all em in a mornings fishing real fab that, however i would have returned the big one theres to much colour on him, but thats only in my opinion ok, fucking great pics in the boat mind
Firstly, before you hop on the internet and start making fun of others, learn to spell your words that you choose to insult people with.
Fishing has been as old as time itself and many do it because its a great source of food/protein. If you are complaining, then I hope you are slowly starving yourself because with your mentality you should not "illtreat" (sic) plants, cattle, swine, chicken, etc.
As a comment to the person in the video, you're a true fisherman!
@SirRogersMaximus yes agreed it is a source of protein but three fish of that size there is no need to one would do here in scotland the chance of a 50 pounder is slim and these guys kill them in abundance i have no prob with killing fish if it is necessary but these guys are rediculus the last fish was coloured up aswel should have been returned so theres my answer to you
the harvest of big jacks like that then its not all bad.
its untouched Norway we are talking about not over harvested Canada newfoundland and other places where its a rare to land a salmon over even ten pounds. i wouldn't agree there but Norway has done a great job at not over harvesting and deserve to enjoy the benifits of taking home a nice big salmon. great cant! if u cant one that size in canada tho plz let it go lol
@FisherManStan88 Newfoundland overharvested? 10lb + salmon rare? Are you just plain stupid or retarded? I live in Newfoundland and what you are ranting on about is complete bullshit.
@Bluebeltonproduction Actaully its not, i've only spent the last 4years fishing there
and the only place you even have decent chance of landing a non grills salmon
is at fly in lodges and privatized river sections with lodges. i've spent much time
with the locals and talked many stories of how the salmon sizes are in such decline that there should be a zero harvest rate at all. when my father fished as a boy every salmon was 20+ pds and yes it is very RARE to land a salmon of 10+pds champ
I've never seen an Atlantic salmon this size. I've heard stories, but seeing is believing. I've been to Norway a few times. The smoked salmon there is the best in the world.
Aqua cultur is a much bigger threat to the atlantic salmon then keeping a big fish now and then. So if you "buy one in the store" as some ignorant people suggest you support the industry.
@sako85 while i agree aqua culture is by far the major threat, its still a shame to see such a huge fish killed, those are the genes for more big fish now not being passed on. makes you think about what the nets are keeping out the rivers thoough. these are sad times for atlantic salmon
not only did the wanker kill it he didn't even have the decency to knock it on the head. Hopefully morons like this will not be allowed to fish such a fabulous river in future.
watch your language... in fact your language is a very clear way to understand that your are not very intelligent and is showing indirectly how weak fisherman you are and poor understanding of the SPORT of fly fishing for Atlantic salmon beauties.
i wish i could come whip your ass, pig. 3 big salmon killed in the same day, what a shame. I understand someone keeps one small salmon once in a while, but 90% of all the big fish are gone nowadays, and that includes the salmon. You keep them just for bragging rights. Stop living in the 80's this is 2009.
and a little one!!!!! like the fishermann who catches the golden fish, the first wish: "the river to be of vodka"; done;the second wish: "the lake to be of vodka";done; the third wish....hmmmmm....could you offer me a vodka?
I would say you haven't caught many large salmon - that fish is well over 40 lbs - and could possibly be the advertised 50 lbs. As far as release, yeah, be nice to see it released, but it's legal there - and at least it wasn't a hen.
I returned a 10lb salmon in the Outer Hebrides a couple of years back and when I told a local this in answer to his question as to how my fishing was going, the expression on his face showed that he thought I was clearly mad. Some of your respondents are eco-warriors and carry the usual prejudices - why have the cheek to assert the fish would fester in a freezer? I would imagine the fairly and legally caught specimen was enjoyed by the lad, his family and friends.
some people don't realize that not everyone fishes purely for sport, some people do it to catch their food. I catch and release some fish, but not every one, and i make damn sure they don't go to waste.
