i played a grade 5 piece on the violin and the same piece in the same key was a grade 7 viola piece. The reason though is because you have to play it really high on the viola to be at the same pitch as a violin. However in this case, they might have thought the change in key justified the piece being 2 grades lower. I am not sure, is it definately the same piece?
i hear that there are these youtube converter sites to convert this for your mp3, but i've never used one before so i don't know a site that you can use. but it takes really slow. that's just what i heard! xD
holy hell - i am ok with my other two but have lost all confidence with this piece and now have to play it so much more slowly but it's so boring! Any tips guys? the exam's on wed...
it can become quite boring after a while but the way that helps me is to imagine it being a dance, so keep the jumpy dancey feel.. hope that helps... :)
i know! me too! my exam's two weeks away and i don't know how to play it now. so my teacher says i have to play it supppppppeeerrrr slow until i don't make any mistakes. -_-
A very elegant peice: the clarity is crystalline, and it flows beautifully! Thanks for posting these: they provide helpful guidance and motiviation. :-)
Yes, sure. Have lent the CD to somebody at the mo, but will upload all of the ones printed in the book, and any of the alternate ones people ask for, what other pieces are you playing?
To be honest, my piano teacher played me a recording of one of my grade 7 pieces and said that in a couple of parts I played it better. It's up to the musicians discretion as to how they play it, and up to the audience's interpretation as to whether they think it's decent or not. Therefore, I wouldn't stress too much about minor discrepancies between recording and your interpretation. At least, this is what I'm telling myself!
I agree, I did it at about crotchet=108, which is a good steady speed, any slower and you'd probably get marked down I would have thought, but i'm not an expert in any way.
Well, the recording doesn't use any dynamics because it would have been written for harpsichord, which doesn't use any dynamics. However it says in the notes at the bottom of the page in the book, that dynamics are left to the player's discretion. So, you don't really have to, unless you just do the natural crescendos like bar 3 to the end of bar 4.
I always rush, and I think can rubato...my friend played in a rubato way but this song doesnt belong to romantic period..It's baroque right??In that case I wonder if examiner minus marks
I'm not sure of its date, but Loeillet lived and died in the baroque period, so there shouldn't be any rubato really, stick at the same speed all the way through.
D'you know what? The timing sounds irregular in parts, and not in a rubrato way. I would have thought the CD would have had a better performance on it <shrugs> but if this is what they want, this is what I'll give'em.
Is it possible to upload the whole cd? I can't remember the syllabus for this particular year

Is it just me or can no one else find this online to legally download to put on an mp3 player?
It's great to hear this piece, but other takes on it too would be helpful.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thanks! (:

ohs...stick to the same speed..I always speed up,start slow and ended up too fast for myself that I have to stop, haha.
1.06-1.09 is the part that I always mix up the timing, and both my hands play at different speed!
aarrhhhgghh,my left hand is weaker thus slower.
Good luck for the piano exam for anyone taking it!Including me.hehhs

No, not really, this is the recommended speed, it was just personally too fast.

I personally think its a bit fast to keep up, the book says crotchet=116, and I did it about crotchet=104.
