@Superbranson I don't agree. I do think that modern rap (Lil Wayne, Eminem, Jay-Z) is real crappy. It is all about sex and drugs. I do think that "Ol' School" rap is really great. Have you heard Aerosmith's Walk this Way? there are rappers in that song and it really sounds good. Maybe rap just needs some more rock and roll music behind it to bring out the quality. Keep singing! Life is overwhelmingly wonderous and your alive!
@TheTimbeaux Alive? That's a real stretch buddy. A REEEAAAL STRETCH. Ever since I had to go to the hospital and get surgery because I was having too many nightmares. The only thing that keeps me going is rock and rool AKA "Real music". Bands like AC/DC. The Carpenters. Led Zepplin. and The Beatles. were real music. Nowadays it's all corporate crap. If it wasn't for REAL FANS like thricedotted I would be dead. In a way, I already am.
@Superbranson It seems to me like your appreciation of Rock and Roll arose a coping mechanism for your psychological pain ("i had to go to the hospital to get surgery because i was having too many nightmares"). Rage Against the Machine-both Rap AND Rock- are great for dealing with heavy emotions and the political truths of america. Also, try the Wu-Tang Clan's first album "Enter the Wu-Tang Clan (36 Chambers)". They are good rap and the performed live with Rage. It's cool to use music to feel.
@TheTimbeaux YOU ARE OUT OF YOU LEAGUE HERE SON. WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO HOME AND PLAY WITH DADDY OK? LEAVE THE ROCK TO THE BIG BOYS OH WAIT I JUST REALIZED YOU PROBABLY DONT
@Superbranson My dad was the one who got me into rock. He showed me his old Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix albums. They blew my mind. Try topping Jimi with ANY guitarist today. Jimi, like myself, is one of the big boys for sure. If you like Jimi, maybe you would like Outkast? (Andre 3000 was going to play Jimi in a movie once but it never got made. I think i read about that in rolling stones and i thought "yes, that would be awesome".
well, i bet a vast number of people can agree that magnum's voice isn't something to be marveled at. he's a musical genius, but his voice is like a cheap bob dylan impression. her feminine touch to this song added a warm touch to the lyrics.
@annDgurrrl You're definitely right, and it comes down to personal preference in the end, like always. Still, Jeff Mangum's voice remains the only the ever make me shed tears. Actual tears.
@TheHippoFish I am crying right now, but it's not because of this (great) cover its actually because of family stuff. And to be honest its sort of personal so id rather not talk about it ok? thanks
Tempo's a little shaky, but thats to be expected. Chrikes though, does he have a wrist or a blender? But other than that, this ain't none to half bad.
Wow I hate to say it but this is almost better then the version I heard from the actual dude. Might of been him on a bad day or something. But this is good

ps i like your communist daughter rendition sooo much!!! im thinking of burning it onto a cd so i can listen to it in thick nyc traffic =)
You accidentally sang "choking and floating with her hands across her face" i think. But other then that. you did an amazing job covering this song. definitely one of my favorites I've seen online. top notch.
You successfully covered one of my favorite songs of all time, and a very hard one at that!!! Excellent work... You've got a lot of talent, and this seems like something you should most definitely pursue!!!
Thank you! I don't play guitar, but that looks difficult! I couldn't listen to the bands voice again (sorry! good music but slightly painful to listen to)! You have a great voice!
Wow.... I only discovered Neutral Milk Hotel and I've already fallen in love with their music! Watching your cover and hearing your vocals made shivers run down my spine (this happens to me when I really hear sincerity and emotion in a song).
Blasphemous? Oh no, if I did, then I'd be a hypocrite because I'm guilty of the same thing (covering NMH songs). In fact, this is quite good! I don't think you rushed it so much as you sped it up. And admittedly that was a good thing of you. I liked hearing your sped up version better.
You've got some rather good NMH covers up here, I might add, and I think this is my favorite one of yours that I've seen so far.
Despite the fact that the guitar playing was a little choppy, this cover brought me to tears, and I kept crying through most of it. You managed to evoke that haunting, poetic sense of nostalgia for a time I will never remember that always occurs when I hear the original. Very beautiful. Also the kitchen reminded me of the house I grew up in and my teenage years. Very emotional. Really great thricedotted. Don't stop!
yeah, but originally it was without capo. she probably just added it in this vid to natch it better with her voice. if you dont have an ear for chords you can probably find them on tab sites
lol it's so true that u really need a lot of breath to sing neutral milk songs but it sounds really good :) i reallly liked it :) I like the way u did the bridge especially. like the part with the "in the dark, we will take off our clothes etc"
It's a good cover. Although I like the way Mangum really goes for it--especially at the lines "catching signals in the dark" and "choking with her hands across her face"--your slightly toned-down rendition makes for a quite listenable, and, dare I say, more feminine version, replete with curves in the place of Mangum's sharp edges.
yea, but what the hell do her "saggy, tiny tits" have to do with anything. this is a cover of a song not a video about her tits, so your comment is rude and unnecessary, you ignorant shit.

You did a pretty good job, but your strumming is a little off because you can hear Jeff sort of emphasizing certain strokes.
