  • FUCK YES! ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE! FUCK THAT RAP NOISE.

SAY IT WITH ME, CHILDREN: "RAP = CRAP!"

  • @Superbranson I don't agree. I do think that modern rap (Lil Wayne, Eminem, Jay-Z) is real crappy. It is all about sex and drugs. I do think that "Ol' School" rap is really great. Have you heard Aerosmith's Walk this Way? there are rappers in that song and it really sounds good. Maybe rap just needs some more rock and roll music behind it to bring out the quality. Keep singing! Life is overwhelmingly wonderous and your alive!

  • @TheTimbeaux Alive? That's a real stretch buddy. A REEEAAAL STRETCH. Ever since I had to go to the hospital and get surgery because I was having too many nightmares. The only thing that keeps me going is rock and rool AKA "Real music". Bands like AC/DC. The Carpenters. Led Zepplin. and The Beatles. were real music. Nowadays it's all corporate crap. If it wasn't for REAL FANS like thricedotted I would be dead. In a way, I already am.

  • @Superbranson It seems to me like your appreciation of Rock and Roll arose a coping mechanism for your psychological pain ("i had to go to the hospital to get surgery because i was having too many nightmares"). Rage Against the Machine-both Rap AND Rock- are great for dealing with heavy emotions and the political truths of america. Also, try the Wu-Tang Clan's first album "Enter the Wu-Tang Clan (36 Chambers)". They are good rap and the performed live with Rage. It's cool to use music to feel.

  • @TheTimbeaux YOU ARE OUT OF YOU LEAGUE HERE SON. WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO HOME AND PLAY WITH DADDY OK? LEAVE THE ROCK TO THE BIG BOYS OH WAIT I JUST REALIZED YOU PROBABLY DONT

    LAST WARNIG TO SHUT UP

  • @Superbranson My dad was the one who got me into rock. He showed me his old Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix albums. They blew my mind. Try topping Jimi with ANY guitarist today. Jimi, like myself, is one of the big boys for sure. If you like Jimi, maybe you would like Outkast? (Andre 3000 was going to play Jimi in a movie once but it never got made. I think i read about that in rolling stones and i thought "yes, that would be awesome".

  • You look like Emma Blunt.

  • @Cruzman3609 Wow, really? I guess that makes you an idiot

  • I think it was just lovely.

  • aww i wish i knew cool girls who actually do things :(

  • marry me?

  • lol im not trying to take the piss but

    ARE YOU IN A CARAVAN?

  • brilliant cover.

at some points it beats the original. (gasps)

  • @annDgurrrl Sorry, not possible.

  • @TheHippoFish

well, i bet a vast number of people can agree that magnum's voice isn't something to be marveled at. he's a musical genius, but his voice is like a cheap bob dylan impression. her feminine touch to this song added a warm touch to the lyrics.

  • @annDgurrrl You're definitely right, and it comes down to personal preference in the end, like always. Still, Jeff Mangum's voice remains the only the ever make me shed tears. Actual tears.

  • @TheHippoFish I am crying right now, but it's not because of this (great) cover its actually because of family stuff. And to be honest its sort of personal so id rather not talk about it ok? thanks

  • Good job =]

  • I think that is an amazing cover and you've done the song very proud

  • Great job! This is the #1 ranked Neutral Milk Hotel on IndieGuitarTabs.

  • Awesome cover =) you sing so nice

  • Put your heart into the song more like when Jeff Mangum wrote it.

  • kick ass.

  • your voice is so beautiful and soothing

  • Tempo's a little shaky, but thats to be expected. Chrikes though, does he have a wrist or a blender? But other than that, this ain't none to half bad.

  • great job

  • This is beautiful. Thanks!

  • its good

  • You did really well! you are super cute too!

  • Very good : )

  • amazing cover

  • I love you.

  • Comment removed

  • You made this song your own...

    5/5

  • lovely!

I'm just starting to learn this, I'm finding it hard to sing and play along to, but I think i'll get it!

  • The "like" button doesn't do this cover justice. There should be a "love" button.

  • very nice!! love the voice

  • you should put this on itunes

  • this is amazing. youre voice is an awesome twist. beautiful

  • best cover of NMH i've seen

  • Wow I hate to say it but this is almost better then the version I heard from the actual dude. Might of been him on a bad day or something. But this is good

  • actually pretty good

impossible got capture how raw the original is, though

  • pretty and different

  • very nice voice

  • good voice lady

  • Iffy....

I like the original obviously better. :P

But good singing, really an amazing talent I must say.

  • that sounds weird xD

  • wekkid cool

  • WOW great job!

I love covering this song too. hmmm.... maby ill post 1 somday...

    I LOVED IT :)

  • It is a good song isn't it? :)

And she did a great job covering it :)

  • im sorry

  • 0:39

    intruder alert!

  • i dunno why i didnt expect this to be good at the begining?

    its absolutely amazing!

really good job, i love your voice!

  • New troll mill coat hell!

  • haha!

  • awesome!

  • Nice covers. You do the original artists justice.

BTW when will you play in your closet? after the kitchen, the living room and your room, I think it should be your next stage.

    Pretty cool singing.

  • I like it... nice job

  • i think your beautiful and you sing amazing too...i been listen to nmh for over a decade and your voice does true justice to nmh and is an amazing cover

ps i like your communist daughter rendition sooo much!!! im thinking of burning it onto a cd so i can listen to it in thick nyc traffic =)

  • You accidentally sang "choking and floating with her hands across her face" i think. But other then that. you did an amazing job covering this song. definitely one of my favorites I've seen online. top notch.

  • Your voice has a lovely timbre and is as soft as velvet. Keep on rocking! Perfectly in tune too.

  • Very good !! Keep rocking hehe :)

  • Pretty good considering you're playing on a toy guitar :p

  • cute

  • An excellent cover. I could not be any more sincere.

    Positively lovely.

  • you hit the high notes better i think. wish the audio quality was a little clearer, too hard to hear your voice

  • Lovely cover!

  • Impressive number. Thought the tempo at the least got the job done and it was very nicely sung anyways.

  • You're very good. ...Do you play live? Get back to me with that.

    Great job, sincerely.

  • This is quite good.

  • awesome cover! i love your voice and i love nmh, you are amazing.

  • Pretty damn good! love NMH

  • much enjoyed- thank you!

  • you have an amazing voice.

  • Shit

  • wonderful.... :) good job!!!! really though.

  • this was so wonderful. :) You chose a very good range for your voice that still fit the song's mood.

  • Great cover.

I was expecting it to be quite bad, tbh. Well done.

  • Hey great job. Love the voice to. Keep on singing.

  • this is really great. sometimes playing NMH with a female voice doesn't work. But this one definitely works. For realzzz keep playing.

  • i enjoyed it!

  • EPIC!!!

You successfully covered one of my favorite songs of all time, and a very hard one at that!!! Excellent work... You've got a lot of talent, and this seems like something you should most definitely pursue!!!

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • lovely!!!

  • You've got a great voice! Love it!

  • this was pretty good. it's a hard song to play, but you pulled it off.

  • beautiful highs!

  • I think you did quite an exquiste job. Don't listen to people who say it is bad.

  • well, sorry but this is bad....

  • 1.55: whoops!

  • Wouldn't it be Romulus/Remus, as per tradition?

    Also, STFU

  • "Wouldn't it be Romulus/Remus, as per tradition?"

Traditions are made to be broken.

    "Also, STFU"

That is not for you to decide. But please, cry more, knight-in-shining-armor wannabe!

  • I love how constructive YouTube comments can be...

  • Any reason you're tuned in D standard? (with capo)

    Good job btw

  • Because I have to kick it up to that in order for my voice to hit most of the notes!

  • Ah, good idea, haha.

I should do that, instead of straining my voice so bad to get the "catching signals..." type parts.

I also should learn how to play guitar and sing at the same time :[

  • @thricedotted wouldn't it just be easier to put the capo on the first while playing in E Standard?

  • @thricedotted Me too xD

  • Good cover.

    What your country?

  • Fantastic cover! :-)

  • Not blasphemous at all! This is one of my favorite songs of all time and you did it justice, great job :)

  • Didn't realise this was such a simple song. Pleased, will try covering it myself one day, when I get a bit more vocal training ;)

Enjoyed it, thanks very much =)

  • Thank you! I don't play guitar, but that looks difficult! I couldn't listen to the bands voice again (sorry! good music but slightly painful to listen to)! You have a great voice!

  • the tempo wasnt half bad good job :)

  • Wow.... I only discovered Neutral Milk Hotel and I've already fallen in love with their music! Watching your cover and hearing your vocals made shivers run down my spine (this happens to me when I really hear sincerity and emotion in a song).

You have such a beautiful singing voice! NICE!

  • I cry every time I hear this song sung by Jeff, but I didn't think anyone else could sing it and make me cry.............

    [looking for a kleenex]

    thanx

  • Wonderful!

  • Nice Work Kiddo! You killed the vocals...a little quick tempo, but really super, super nice!

  • I laughed when I saw the cutting board hanging in the background by the window.

I like this. You managed to make me happy somehow. Maybe it's because I think you're cool.

  • Awesome job! Not bad at all! You did it justice X-D

  • Blasphemous? Oh no, if I did, then I'd be a hypocrite because I'm guilty of the same thing (covering NMH songs). In fact, this is quite good! I don't think you rushed it so much as you sped it up. And admittedly that was a good thing of you. I liked hearing your sped up version better.

You've got some rather good NMH covers up here, I might add, and I think this is my favorite one of yours that I've seen so far.

  • did you just cover every song on the damn album?

  • Ohhh you do such a lovely cover of this song!!

    I so love it <3

  • i love this song

    you did a badass job

  • girl, you are talented. amazing voice :)

  • Great cover

  • you rushed a bit, but overall, it was great

  • Despite the fact that the guitar playing was a little choppy, this cover brought me to tears, and I kept crying through most of it. You managed to evoke that haunting, poetic sense of nostalgia for a time I will never remember that always occurs when I hear the original. Very beautiful. Also the kitchen reminded me of the house I grew up in and my teenage years. Very emotional. Really great thricedotted. Don't stop!

  • what is the chord progression for this song (just the beginning) g b ? please reply

  • yeah, but originally it was without capo. she probably just added it in this vid to natch it better with her voice. if you dont have an ear for chords you can probably find them on tab sites

  • lol it's so true that u really need a lot of breath to sing neutral milk songs but it sounds really good :) i reallly liked it :) I like the way u did the bridge especially. like the part with the "in the dark, we will take off our clothes etc"

  • Loved it! Do part 2 now!

  • i think it is very nice.

  • love your voice... just get a better guitar then your all set :-)

  • This is a really great cover, your voice is really good.

  • nice voice

  • Don't mind the haters..... I liked the cover, and it seemed a little more upbeat than the original.

  • not bad

  • beautiful

  • how do you not pass out of lack of oxygen? singing NMH songs are like holding your breath for 5 mins..

  • It's a good cover. Although I like the way Mangum really goes for it--especially at the lines "catching signals in the dark" and "choking with her hands across her face"--your slightly toned-down rendition makes for a quite listenable, and, dare I say, more feminine version, replete with curves in the place of Mangum's sharp edges.

  • Excellent, I love your voice. Very clear and lovely. :)

  • nice : )

  • Very pretty! Well done, hon

  • excellent keep singing and playing very unique look and voice

put some thought into the performance too stiff my dear but again excellent performance

  • Great job.

  • Hey, "RifRifkin"! You should change your username to something more telling of your douchebag-ness... like "IAmAnAsshole" or something.

P.S. At least they won't sag when I'm older.

  • what the fuck is your problem? you are such an asshole, keep your mouth shut and leave her alone.

maybe you're jealous because you suck and she is awesome, so you act a fool for no reason.

  • yea, but what the hell do her "saggy, tiny tits" have to do with anything. this is a cover of a song not a video about her tits, so your comment is rude and unnecessary, you ignorant shit.

  • "yea, but what the hell do her "saggy, tiny tits" have to do with anything."

How the hell should I know? Ask "RikRifkin".

"your comment is rude and unnecessary, you ignorant shit."

You seem pretty ignorant yourself, grasshopper.

  • Actually, Beelzebubsasshole (a very apt name, I must say), you do sound pretty stupid.

  • "Kermakos"? "Comatose" would be a more fitting name...

  • I think your strumming is definitely passable, but I think of it as a little bit blasphemous because of your voice...I would have liked to hear more of a focus on sincerity and heartbreak rather than technique. But yes! Very nice cover. Thanks for putting it up.

  • nice, really nice

  • you didnt have to put the capo on but its youre kick ass

  • Cool~

  • You did a pretty good job, but your strumming is a little off because you can hear Jeff sort of emphasizing certain strokes. I can't really explain which down strokes are supposed to be, but you can definitely hear them. Also, your vocals seem a little off in some parts, but overall, I was rather surprised. Good work.

  • I enjoyed it. Was considering covering it myself, maybe I'll use this as a point to reach for

  • this was really awesome! NMH would be proud.

  • And you can't spell.

  • I love this song. I wish I could hit all those high notes when I play it!

  • Very good. I really think you did a great job on this song, nice vocals.

  • Wow. I really enjoyed your cover. I really do think it's one of the better covers that I've seen.

It was a little upbeat, but I think it worked for the better.

    Your voice is really good.

  • Wow, I have to admit.. when I opened this video I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say I'm very impressed. Really nice job.

  • nice!!!!its warming

  • well done. more NMH please!

  • wow. i love you

  • pretty cool! :)

  • really beautiful and moving. you performed this quite exceptionally. keep it up and don't listen to stupid shit from stupid people, I've read some mean comments on some of your videos. some people have no life outside of being YouTube trolls. so yeah, keep it up!

  • It's really nice to see a comment like this after I wake up and, in a fit of idiocy, actually bother to respond to the nasty flamers. Thanks.

  • So how'd you manage to be *more* ethereal than the original? Wow.

Yours is just as clear and just as self-assured, but instead of the words being considered and deliberate, they are being fed to you from your subconscious as you sing them .

Mangum has fully-formed feelings of alienation finally finding an external object with which to identify. You feel human, but on encountering this thing in a jar, search for common ground with the alien for the first time.

    Brilliantly realized.

  • You have left the most lucid and complimentary comments I have ever (and probably will ever) received on YouTube.

    Thank you, once again.

  • What's the joke? "Challenge: Write a YouTube comment so stupid, it can't possibly be real. [Hint: It's impossible.]"

Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of arrogance compels me to share my opinions on all these things you've posted, but I'm glad it's well-taken.

Enjoy it now -- before I become irritating and self-important. (Ha.) (maybe)

  • perfect gezongen. met een vleugje vrolijkheid

  • Amazing.

    Simply amazing.

  • Very nice version of one of my favourite songs. But what are you looking at?

  • She's looking at my fat penis.

  • what key are you playing this in? i can't sing it at its real pitch because it is too low!

  • haha, very nice taste in music. i listen to all the bands you have covered. nice job.

  • small guitar :] you're really good

  • Very good voice, I really like it.

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • yet another good cover my dear. I hope to see more songs by you in the future. play on my friend. play on.

  • I love this!! :]]

  • loveee your voice

i tried using a capo when i learned this song too haha

but then i decided to just take it up an octave

  • not bad
