@Shadow194 Marco was. I believe he won his third star in 1994. The youngest now is Massimiliano Alajmo at the age of 28. Gordon Ramsay tried to best Marco by becoming the youngest chef to gain three-michelin-stars but was unable to. I believe Marco was also the first British chef to gain 3 michelin stars. However, the commentary is saying Passard is the youngest chef in France, to be 3 michelin stars.
I do think that the judges were more for Sakai even over Paissard but remember Sakai had just come from 2 hour long battles earlier while Paissard was fresh. Either way Sakai deserved what he got.
Passard had classic French Chef Syndrome. meening he belives you can continue to impress by doing the same damn thing for centuries with out change, and that classic french is a pure pinnacle of cullinary ability and further experimenting is unnessary, and in some recipes in france illegal.
i don't know about how these dishes taste, but from what i can see, it's obvious that sakai is superior in both originality and presentation. his dishes are truly works of art.
they should have invited famous foreign judges (German, Korean, African, American, Australian, Indian, Filipino etc.) instead of their own kind. all judges were Japanese I couldnt help but to think its a bit one sided advantage for Sakai.
I don't know why you're getting downvoted. You're just stating an opinion.
I agree, when I noticed that all the judges were Japanese I thought to myself that there would definitely be a non-intentional bias. However, I sure that maintaining a level head and open mind towards other cultures is key to being a judge anyways. Unless you're Simon Cowell, that is.
Imagine you have to eat Passard's four-course chicken feast - that'll be too much chicken in a row! Sakai's courses are different from one and other, with much more creativity (unlike Passard who used his mentor's recipet...)
Man, I like Pissard.. but I'm a bit disappointed he only did the chickens whole. Sakai definitely is versatile.. and it looks like French-Chinese fusion. Wow!!
guikgamer plz grow up a bit he was being energetic as all food fans should be, throw language to the wind in the case of this epic battle between the two best chefs in the world.
Man, I love Sakai.<3

Wow - what a thought. Jeffrey Steingarten as a judge on Iron Chef Japan. That would be, uh, interesting.

true, they should have added more diverse food critics or gourmets, not some actress who doesnt know anything about food

yea especially an EX-PRIME MINISTER!
I mean...like hell a japan ex-prime minister will vote for a non-japanese chef!
Chua Lam was probably the most fair judge there, being from Hong Kong

Does anyone else think that Passard looks like Vincent Cassel the french actor? (maybe you'd remember him as Toulour in Oceans Twelve?)
