So let me get this straight. You guys order amplifier kits from Marshall and Fender and then build them. That means that nobody designs their own amplifiers, sounds like so much fun lol. I would not pay anyone to show me how to build an amplifier kit, what a waste of time and money. You could go to Devry and learn everything about electronics and learn how to actually design your own circuits; and get a degree in the end of it all. Do you guys even learn about capacitive reactance at this place
cool old school amp. does it have 2 6V6's ? here's a mod for ya'.why not run an additional circuit for a 6L6 (EL34) or KT-66?. then add another toggle. you'll have an alternate output. jeez add a larger cab. and, put an 8" and a 10" Jensen's? not only wud you have more cone surface than a single 12" speaker, you'd be able to run either 4K or 8K's. the best of most worlds!
dude mustaches are gay! go beards! instead of paying at least $1200 i just pick up some books at the library. just my opinion but you'd be surprised what you can find at the library.
Thanks for the video. This particular school seems like an avenue i might explore, although i wanted to ask you a question regarding a first step to take - my electronics experience is at a more novice level, i know the basic theory and have only soldered cables and such. Given this, what would you recommend as a first step? Library books, amp school, community college electronics course? Thanks
I'm not Amish, I'm Irish. I sometimes just feel like shaving my mustache. It feels like a constant breeze on my upper lip. It's very refreshing, I do personally think it looks stupid, however, I typically place function over appearance.
that's fantastic.can anyone build a guitar or amp.i have absolutely no skills whatsoever in woodcraft or electronics, but would love to try and build,a guitar and amp.i imagine that it must be an expensive course though?
They are expensive for sure...I think they usually run around a few thousand dollars, but you usually get to keep the amp you build, and you gain useful knowledge about the design, construction, and maintenance of tube amps. If you have the money I'm sure it would be well worth it!
thanks for reply!i thought that it might be expensive, but would definatly be worth it.i live in the uk,but have seen amp and guitar building courses in guitarist magazine, hopefully one day i can go on one of them!!!peace!!!
thanks for info,am broke at moment, but have just ordered one of those ac30 amplugs, they are meant to be brilliant!!!will definatly save for one of those amp courses, one day.thanks again!!!
no experience is necessary to take the amp building classes. The class itself is $685 and the cost of the amp varies depending on what kit you choose (the kits range in price from is $503 - $1087).
you don't need those classes. just research online, take a look at amp building forums, buy a book, save the money and learn the hard way. send me a message if you want some links to get you started.

the best 'mod' for that Fender tweed Champ is to get rid of that anemic little speaker - run it thru a 12" and it makes a world of difference.

That's an Esquire copy, not a Tele. Looks like a pleasant weekend, well spent. Can I get a scholarship? ;)
