  • what is up with engineers today?

  • PLEASE POST THE FREQUENCIES

  • Same thing happened to me and my friend last sunday the dickhead conducter called us in for apperently tresspassing when we werent even on the tracks!

  • this is the only thing i hate about train watching, theres always that one dickhead conductor that calls you in even though its obvious your just taking pictures of the train and staying away from the track..

  • OMG call the police they have cameras lol.

  • I railfan and take photos all the time in Pa. I sometimes follow a train from one spot to another. I wonder if they ever did the same thing to me.

  • That crew deserves the finger when they go by

  • wow! iam impressed to hear this i got to get back a scanerr to be awere of things like this again

  • people sabotage cars in are yard now we to report people near the tracks railfan or not. Generally we can spot railfans, especially when they have train horns on top of their vehicle. But if someones taking pictures from inside a car and not out Id be suspicious of it

  • Paranoai is taking over ! Im surprised the TSA goons weren't alerted to respond with tasers, naked body scanners and sub machine guns ! Pathetic in extremis!

  • damn i love the NS but to think ur robbers, thats just stupid

  • @NS2658 Roberts, not robbers lol.

  • Here in UK the trains move a bit to fast for the crew to see who's taking photos, so no problem with reporting there, At stations the train companies guidelines say when rail fans are on the station, make contact with them and check they are aware of the dos and don'ts and then leave them to enjoy their hobby.

  • At current date I talked to a local engineer that works for one of the Short-lines in New York and he told me that he was told that he is supposed to report Railfans and anyone by the tracks as well as record Licence plates and submit them to the Office where they would then hand them over to the TSA and the FBI. As is some railroad employees are not going to waste the time with this as they rather have the railfans around as we tend to scare of the trouble makers away.

  • rail fans are losers they just stare at strips of metal i for one am a TRAINfan i enjoy trains not rails, than you very much

  • I heard the name Roberts, was this in Roberts, WI by any chance?

  • @MNsportsnut Indeed, this is Roberts, WI.

  • @ottergoose -I like to watch trains go by @ the Oakdale Menard's parking lot & it's weird how I always see more Norfolk Southern trains than Union Pacific on those tracks.

  • I am surprised, as most railfanning I have done, I get waves while filming from most engineers and conductors.

  • @busrailfan yeah me too. I live by the A.C&Y rairoad and watch the trains go by and even when we were kids they'd wave and smile at us. They do go really slow through my area since there's 4 busy intersections on that stretch.

  • WOW! REALLY? HA HA HA HA HA AHAH HAHA!

  • "hidding their vehicle" i laughed so hard xD

  • That was great! LOL

  • the railroad police and employes have been falsely accusing railfans of doing illegal things when the are not.if you ever get stopped by a police or employee, ask what they would arrest you for and shit.also,if they bring up the patriot act says its illegal to take pictures, tell them they are lying.the patriot act does not say ANYTHING about taking pictures is illegal.

  • @whitingguy no cops is ever going to say BS like that. Railroad police are concerned with theft and people getting hurt on railroad property.

If someone radios in a suspicious person they might come talk to you but they arent detaining you, they are just talking.

BUT as soon as you go on railroad property, your are on private property and the rules change a bit.

They certainly CAN prohibit you from filming on their private property.

As a rail fan you just have to know where you are.

  • @2204Alpha well they have(even to me when im on city property)

  • Yeah, those railfans are deadly! Who knows what that camera really is...?

  • Federal law mandates that everyone cover their eyes when a train passes. And all traffic must stay off of parallel roads. Oh an you must have your vehicle in plain sight at all times.

After all the terrorist attacks we have had on trains, something has to be done!

  • Pay attention to the rails! "they are now hiding they are now hiding their vechicle from us" AHHH HA HA HA that was HILARIOUS! Thanks for sharing! ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • Do you have the rest of this ?

  • As an engineer for another railroad we are trained to report anyone around the tracks (seriously I had to take a class for it) Some newer hires take this way too seriously and its just common sense I know what looks unusual and what is railfans and if you are watching from a public area then there is nothing they can do about it but some of the managers and railroad police are trying to be all they can be and I've got news if terrorists want to hit trains they will you can't watch all the line

  • @rager522 Good to see there is Common Sense this day in age. I applaud you for this

  • Nothing against the conductor or you, but they do have to report that kinda of stuff especially if the cargo they carry is, shall we say, a HOT commodity (ie: Gov't supplies, DOD). Conductors/engineers do know about rail fans.... we get a kick out of it sometimes if we have a boring day, but secretly we're railfans too! but like I said they may have HAD to report it b/c there are people out there that do, daily, sabbotage rail equipment and have seen it first hand.

  • This crew needs to take a chill pill! I mean you guys are just railfans who did nothing wrong. Neat video

  • Nothing ever happened as a result of any of this; I sent an email to one of UP Police officers who I had met a few weeks earlier on one of their OLS specials and never heard back from him. Apparently it's still legal to operate a camera in public.

  • @ottergoose Not sure if this is nationwide....It is illegal in NY State to shoot private property from any vantage point without written consent of the owner. :( B.S. laws, I get it. CSX rips me apart all of the time.

  • @ConAmMD80fan Yes, that's an obscure law known as "trespassing," I think ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • What happened after this?

  • Well that must suck, why did they call you in?

I don't think i ever had that problem, only thing that happens is the conductor on the local doesn't seem to like me to much lol

  • LOL! Sounds like he might have a shirt that says "98% chump".

    Funny stuff.
