  • Nice. This gave me a eureka moment: For a street application, just wrap your arms around the body and protect the head while doing this escape.

  • I would like to take her out for a nice seafood dinner

  • Second mount escape I ever learned. Great technique.

  • I used this today while rolling with a fairly larger person, and this technique worked like a charm :D, thanks for the showing me.

  • What I've that is very helpful with this escape is to take my bottom leg and use it to move this leg that I want to hool him. This puts him in an uncomfortable position an he has a lot harder time defender reaching my other leg over and hooking it.

  • @1:23 to 1:41 could I addapt this possition to a sweep or or roll to land on top?

  • Stephen maintains this weird rape smile during the whole video.

  • awsome!

  • Nice!

  • sexual lol oooo

  • my coach tought us this technique and i used it it works

  • I think people are confused, this is obviously sportive technique for sport grappling. But the principles of the elbow escape can still work in a fight or mma match.

  • Haha! Fuck yeah! This legendary. I will give it a go at BJJ training on Wednesday :D

  • oh god. I would eat her shit.

  • @leltard dude wtf thats disgusting

  • @ZombieSlayerMovies Ok I take it back...I'd let her shit on my face.

  • XYNTA

  • very cool

  • im not criticising this technique but alot of times these are being used is when someone is punching the crap out of your head, I know alot of MMA fighting is based on calm collected thinking, but taking away you defence for your head to move yourself doesnt seem right to me, since if you get knocked out through force of the other guy being bigger, it could be a threat. Is there a way to do this without lowering your defence?

  • @HiredGunGames look at her hands there not actually being used half the time u can keep ur gaurd intil u push knee with elbow plus once u get them into half gaurd u can pull them down to limit the number of punches ur going take and lets face it if some one has u in full mount ur going take some punches no matter what

  • @MrScoob1988 yeah ive been in a full mount before, but the reality is to protect the areas they can severly damage like your teeth, your nose, and points that can even kill you, thanks to me not lowering my guard im still alive and still pretty. Im guessing this technique is mainly for grappling in some sort of tournament or supervised fight. Im sure its useful outside the ring but in some circumstances this move might be hard if the guy has already knocked you out cause you dropped your defence

  • @HiredGunGames Believe me i can take alot of punches but when your brain is knocked out thats it, you cant control when it happens or if it happens or not. So what im asking is is there a way to do this while still protecting yourself from being knocked out outside the ring and possibly continously getting punched while being knocked out.

  • @HiredGunGames This is a good BJJ escape, but for MMA it does compromise your head. MMA, self defense, and BJJ are all different games that share some moves and concepts, but not all. You need to train specifically for your goal. Personally, I use a different strategy than this in MMA. I find that it is important to close your opponent's striking range down if you are mounted. Then you can try reversing or escaping the position.

  • so you shrimp out ig

  • NICE will help me when training with bigger opponents :D

  • oh shit! This video broke my stereotype of the know-nothing female self-defense vid instructor. kudos

  • what happens if theyre punching you in the face the whole time ur doing this ?

  • @wowheads45 then you are probably NOT in a grappling match, which is what this technique is geared towards.

  • @wowheads45 If they are punching you in the face then I am going to assume this is a real fight. If so, I suggest you attack the testicular region with one hand while using the other to protect your face.

  • @wowheads45 i wondered this too, but i don't think they can punch you very effectively because your hip escapes disrupt their base. When you see guys do it in mma the guy on top looks like he's completely off balance and doesn't punch. it's weird but i've seen it work in the ufc a few times

  • @wowheads45 simple pull them in closer to you. Sounds strange but in reality he needs space to hit you. Sit up, bury your head in his chest and pull him down hard to make him put his weight on his hands. As soon as his hands hit the floor shift (it'll be easy as there no longer weight on you) then continue then continue the escape just Emily showed in the video.

    Source: I do it everyday.

  • gå laga mat

  • What if the guys 260 and has his huge gut in your face.

  • Great Technique! Do you have an "MMA safe" version? I cant imagine this technique being too easy while bing punched in the face haha! Thanks.

  • @KarateJ0e

You just need to keep wrist control, then tuck the elbow and do the whole Technic quickly

  • @KarateJ0e This is my go-to mount escape technique. I actually start sparring with the other guy already in mount most of the time. This move can be done extremely fast once you become proficient at it, and can be easily modified to be performed without exposing your head much. But you really need to nail the details of the move first before trying to do it one-armed (with the other guarding your head). But the more force you put into yanking the ankle over laterally, the less pushing is needed.

  • She's an exceptional teacher. And kinda cute too. Win all round.

  • Basics are awesome. Always the gold standard.

  • i manage myself to find this movement alone, now i see its usual

  • this is good stuff.. Simple stuff that works even for beginners!

  • like the new fan page on faceb00k!

  • wow that was like magic lol!

  • Very good at explaining

  • This definitely works. I'm a small guy, usually rolling with guys 30lbs+ heavier than me. I actually do it with my normal shrimp escape if I don't/can't seem to shrimp enough to get my leg fully out.

  • man come on.... he didnt even try to hit or something! if he was vicious and aggresive she would be dead in moments...

  • @dotamaster1994 This is a sportive version of the technique. A self defense version would be different ... and probably cost you money.

  • @MrMZaccone you are right mate :D

  • this would be way too much to remember when u are getting assaulted hahaahaa

  • @vict0r1ous That's why you train. You don't remember the technique, you ingrain the technique.

  • Just softporn :)

  • @Geilheid Get a life perv!!!!

  • Excellent details. Thank you!

  • Sicky!!!

  • will this work in mma?..or just jiu jitsu?

  • @JuNe1Bud

In MMA it could work, if you can do these moves quickly, so your opponent can't just pound your face.

  • this has worked for me many times since i've seen this last week.

  • Roy Dean teaches one similar to this in his blue belt DVD. Very cool!

  • Wow, i had learned something similar to this - but the technical details are the most helpful- thanks!

  • i forgot to mention bridging properly helps big time. .

  • if all else fails. just wrestle. i find wrestling is also very good for streetfighting. hip heist out of there. especially when punches are flying down. you want to get opponent off balance. you don't have time for position perfect technique etc.

  • Damn, if I knew all of these techniques would be on YouTube, I wouldn't have purchased the DVDs.

  • Comment removed

  • ur face is fully exposed. some body try that on me they will get a sharp elbow

  • @Franke357 how do you escape mount?

  • @Franke357 i don't think emily/stephan ever said this would/should apply to a real life situation. the person watching and learning BJJ moves should always think for themselves whether they would use a move in a "street fight".

  • @waldomarek whatever bra, it doesnt really matter does it? im not hating on this video, as akward as I found it too be. But i am just saying if somebody wanted to try that on my they would not be ok after hahahaha

  • @Franke357 it really does matter. some moves in BJJ are more suited in a sport scenario than a "street fight" scenario. for example, none of the flying submissions are a good idea on the street, being on bottom is also not really ideal. however, in a sport scenario, both examples are perfectly fine/safe.

  • @waldomarek thanks for the information. bye now.

  • I can honestly say this is my favorite escape from mount. Especially if you start, instead of just pushing on the knee after you've snagged the foot, swivel your hips under his leg, you can still escape to half guard without necessarily using your hands, or at least not for long.

  • My favourite too! Didn´t know that foot detail in half guard.

  • Eddie Bravo used this a lot against Royler Gracie. The thing I dislike about these recent videos with her is that she seems to be teaching for competition BJJ. The practicality of this mount escape in an actual street situation is questionable when the person on top is wailing down blows to your head while your arms are down keeping the opponents knees from sliding up.

  • @1iguerra I see your point about MMA and self defense. It's a terrible position to be in in any case, but for self defense what is a better mount escape?

  • @lochn For self defense purposes, the majority of people you run into in a street situation do NOT train in any ground fighting techniques, or take the time to learn them (even to this day). So the traditional Gracie hip-bump escape is probably the best for that as it allows you to immediately wrap up either their neck, arms, or chest and pull them to you to prevent hits. Iv'e experimented around with it, and there is another if that one fails which works well off of it.

  • @1iguerra The other works directly off the traditional one. Sometimes the person on top will get wise or will just through sheer chance stick their foot far enough out to the point where you cannot hook it with your own (again, talking about the traditional mount escape). In this case, you can trouble shoot easily into a half guard situation because there should be a gap with their leg. From there you essentially have their leg trapped to follow through with the traditional mount escape.

  • That's what I need - high percentage moves - not fancy...Thanks

  • Thank you so much! You guys are so awesome!

  • great tips once again, thanks emily and stephan, you two are great!
