  • It's funny how so many people put down talk-singing, but it's in essence what Ms. Horne did - especially later in life. She was so brilliant at making you listen to the words by talking some of them. But then she could sing a lyric caressingly like "babies cry," and make you fell ALIVE. What a tremendous performer. This is how it's done, children of today. This is the way it's done...
