A great step up for Xbox users on this one. In FFXIII PS3 had better graphics and smoother gameplay all over whilst this title has no major differences at all. +1 to the Xbox fanboys out there.

I bought a PS3 this morning with FF13-2, and very happy with the system and game. I've held off on the system for years due to being outraged with the removal of PS2 BC, but the price is now very reasonable for what it delivers...
The footage here looks practically identical, and if I really had to nitpick...the 360 suffers a very tiny drop in frame rate. The only other thing would be slight differences in colour saturation and contrast. But that is me nitpicking.
@SamusDrake It's not nitpicking, the xbox graphics are quite clearly inferior, slower fps, slight jittering, if you look at the textures aswell ps3 has better texture filtering and higher anti aliasing! Well done on eventually buying the better system! =P
I wouldn't lose sleep over this, but I would over disc-swapping. I don't know how many DVDs the 360 version uses, but I'm glad its just the 1 BD for the PS3.
I have to say the PS3 is a very powerful machine. Its utility is excellent, although over kill for those who only want it solely for games. Saying that, the fail-rate of early 360s would have drawn me closer to the PS3. Expensive, yes, but more reliable.
@qwikZ Not really, I have both consoles, and DvD's are inferior to Bluray. The hardware in a 360 is not as powerful as in the PS3 either. I've also had 1 Ps3 fail on me but 5 360's red ring on me. So yes the PS3 is clearly the superior hardware. When it comes to exclusives and content though, it's pretty even, hence owning both. Are you sure you're not the insecure fanboy?

If you really believe that ps3 has superior hardware then maybe you should check out why it has trouble running skyrim. In reality they both have their technical limitation depending on what you do. Ontopic, while FF13 was clearly nicer on ps3 because of hasty porting, this sequal has barely any difference

square enix downgraded the graphics for FFXIII-2 on purpose to accommodate the inferior XBox 360. but in the end, XBox screwed them over and somehow got better graphics in the end. damn white people..

They are both amazing graphics. I have a PS3 personally... But honestly i have to give it to xbox. Characters are crisper. Not EVERYTHING is crisper, but most things are... Sad day for sony when a game origionally made for Playstation is made for xbox and xbox outshines sony... =) love it on ps3 anyway!

1:32 freeze frame. xbox is more crisper. Its only with the character models. The blurriness of ps3 works in some cases, but xbox wins in this, still a very good looking game. I only have ps3 so i have it on ps3. wont here me complaining.

i got the ps3 version cuz i lernd my mistake with the first ff13 it came with 3 disc laser burned before i could make it to the second disc lol so i got 13 two on ps3

FF13 is only 50 hours long with nothing else to do while FF13-2 is 40 hours long with side missions , multiple endings, time traveling and way more stuff. your wrong about one thing. the reason its on 1 disc is because 13-2 doesnt have as much pre-rendered scenes as FF13 did. FF13 actually had 32 GB of pre-rendered scenes and only 6.8 gb of in game content thats why it was on 3 discs for 360 because of those 32 GB of cut scenes . 13-2 dont have that

@thehorrocruxes so to fit on 3 discs they had to compress the CGI scenes and made the scenes run at 576p and even the in game content was also compressed due to the CGI scenes taking up so much space. so thats really stupid so FF13 was more of a movie then a game while FF13-2 isnt like that. this time square did things right because they developed both games at the same time and didnt need to port FF13-2 to 360 or ps3 and because of that both versions runs at native 720p and on 1 disc for both
@Rican856 a clearer a doubt, the game ps3 weighed more than 40 gigabytes, and there were many cgi, but also scenes in real time generated by the ps3, xbox and put these scenes by way of compressed video, and now this version of FF13 -2 is lower wing version of 13, to be better wing par with xbox and not notice the downturn both graphic

FF13 was in total 37.6 Gigs but its been confirmed by square themselves that FF13 had over 32 GB of pre-rendered cut scenes and only 6.8 GB of in game content so thats why it was on 3 discs for the 360 and thats why it was compressed to fit on 3 discs but FF13-2 didnt need to go through all of that. the game looks better then FF13 and runs at native 720p on both consoles so again your very wrong

@thehorrocruxes and again your wrong. the 360 version takes up 7.95 GB while the ps3 version takes up 14.4 GB and the reason it takes up that much is because the ps3 version uses loseless PCM audio and that takes up a shit load of space especially since its lossless and that alone takes up about 7GB of space just for the loseless pcm audio and since the 360 uses dolby digital 5.1 live lossy audio it doesnt take up so much disc space like lossless PCM audio does. understand ?
Why do i care? If your an actual gamer you don't care about the graphics. And guess what? Playing COD, Killzone, Battlefield, and a bunch of other shooters dont make you a gamer. Come back to me after playing only a N64 or SNES for a year. Its like Yoda training for gaming.

Hate these videos, has nothing to do with fanboy-vision or whatever, PS3 is better do to hardware, people need to get over it and look at the facts. (both systems have good games, im not a fan of consoles period)
i'm sorry but the recorder used has to low a graphic out put to actually show the difference between the two clearly, but based on the software in both systems the PS3 should have the better graphics for this game. (but this depends on the age of the system and weither it is one of the original release PS3's/ 360's)
Personally I think the PS3 looks a bit smoother and the lighting looks a bit more realistic than the 360. On the 360 I am noticing HOW SHINY AND CRISP everyone's hair is. Meanwhile on the PS3 the hair looks almost natural. The color quality seems to be a tad better on PS3.
Not trying to hate on the 360 or anything, but you can tell the difference between the hardware. PS3 does have better hardware, so obviously it will look more natural. I surprised on how well it looks on 360.
there's nothing fake about it. the ps3 version is the better version with a more solid frame rate and smoother edges and no hair dithering and better sound and video. Its not surprising since the ps3 was the lead platform during its development. Unlike the first game, the 360 version doesn't completely lag behind the ps3 version and that's why some people have a hard time telling the difference time around.
It looks like PS3 has proper Anistrophic Filtering & Anti-aliasing enabled, that and the PS3 has less stuttering and screen tearing.
And the colors seem less saturated on the PS3, this is a good thing for me.
But honestly, FF's shouldn't even be on the Xbox, I'm not saying that the 360 version (nor the console itself) is horrible, but I've always seen FF's to be PS only games.
I noticed that it depends on the scene. In some scenes, the picture was more clear and sharp on the PS3, and in others the Xbox 360. So, honestly, it looks like it doesn't really matter.
I own both a 360 and PS3 and I've downloaded the demo on both consoles to try and see a difference and it seems like the 360 is slightly more clear than the PS3 version, which is weird because FF13 was vastly superior on PS3. I wonder what changed lol. I'm not sure if I want this on 360 for achievements or PS3 for the extra content since I played FF13 on PS3.
Only difference like they mentioned is the sharpness, 360 sharpened the textured, ps3 made it look more smooth for a more dreamy effect, personally i like the sharpness but thats just personal preference

But that could just be how the Resolution of the Game was on said console! Because XBOX 360 and PS3's resolutions are slightly different! :o
@brbforsnacks It's called, there are clear differences between the consoles and simple fact is that the PS3 does have superior hardware than the XBOX360, however the XBOX360 is significantly easier to code for, which gave it a lead in the early and mid phase of this generation.As we enter the late end of the generation, we're now seeing that the PS3 is a late-bloomer as developers have achieved a grasp of the coding system. I'm a game developer myself and have worked with both systems. PS3 > 360
The 360 side seems much sharper, especially evident on Serah's clothing early in. Of course, that may be just the PS3 version giving "depth." Either way, they'll both play just the same. The only real difference

the contrast from XIII is gone in this game... squares have gone lazy when developing this game, obviously dont want the huge contrast like last time...
@justin2griffin The ps3 Aspect Ratio is slightly higher so it runs with less chance of skipping and the Color is slightly different on both systems. These are running on HDMI but idk what Htz they are running.
ps3 seems slightly sharper but the 360 version pops brighter with color thats odd but the game is what counts and i still love it regardless off what console its on

BIG difference. Ps3 is obviously superior. Especially since it's bigger in file size, not to mention the ps3 version was worked on twice as much as the 360 version(fact) The 360 is basically a downgraded port of it if you will.

PS3 version will look better mostly during cut scenes, However once again the Final fantasy series is held back by the xbox 360. In order to achieve 1 disc for both games square admitted to toning done the pre rendered cut scenes to run in real time to have less space take up the disc. 13-2 is great and i enjoy it but we all know VERSUS is going to destroy all sorry 360fanboys its exclusive
You'll get a great game experience regardless of what console you play it on, but the fac of the matter is that if you have BOTH consoles then there's no reason to get it for 360 since it is better for PS3 regardless of what people want to think. If you only have a 360 though you're not missing out, it's not like we're saying PS3 vs Wii here.
Both consoles are just as good, it depends on what system the game was first designed for. It's been shown on many sites that for FF13 at least it was designed for PS3 then ported to 360 and runs at 567p or what not and then upscales, with videos being way more compressed so PS3 is def better for FF. However take a game designed for 360 and ported to PS3 and you pretty much get the opposite where the 360 will look better.
but the character movements are totally different when you see it side by side within the same scene, none of my comment counts towards the battling part of the video
Sometimes I think people post videos like these to start comment wars between PS3 and XBOX fans for the uploader's entertainment and console fans out there fall for it every time. The comments are more entertaining than the video itself. Both consoles have their ups and downs. Although I use a PS3 myself I dont go out of my way to bitch about XBOX because microsoft also makes good games. I use a ps3 cuz I had the first playstation and I'm just used to it.

@HIvanH91 The games on a single disc for both systems. The reason it was on 3 last time was because of all the CG cutscenes. Because this game was in development for only 1.5 - 2 years or so, they didn't have enough time or money to make all those CG cutscenes, so they were able to fit the game on one disc for 360. Clearly, that is not 360s fault, but of course that won't stop the console purists.
I'm no fanboy but PS3 has better/smoother frame rate, the colors are more saturated in PS3, and it's slightly sharper.
Now the Xbox version looks just as good, a little blurrier but that never killed anyone, right?
I don't own neither, but I've ordered a PS3 like a week ago, just for all the good games PS3 has to offer, don't get me wrong, Xbox has nice exclusive's as well but they're not my kinda games.

Youtube is NOT the place to be comparing graphics; to have any semblance of quality you need to render it right, and youtube usually compresses it below actual quality anyway. I forget where I found this, but the XBox 360 version is rendered in 576p (for FFXIIII at least) and the 360 upscales to 1080p. By this reasoning, the PS3's picture should look sharper since it isn't compressed followed by upscale.
Anyway, just enjoy the damn game; graphics are really irrelevant in this day and age.
Graphics isn't the issue I play skyrim on my pc on the lowest cause really it doesn't affect gameplay at all, graphics = whiny people wanting more so they spent more on graphics and ruin gameplay. Oh btw I can run skyrim at 60fps on highest settings, I choose to select lowest

@thehorrocruxes wrong cause digital foundry and lens of truth have both confirmed that the 360 version of FF13-2 runs at native 720p just like the ps3 version unlike FF13 for 360 where it ran at 576p so thats where your wrong. another thing before you talk crap about the 360 ff13 could have easily fit on 1 dvd disc for the 360 but the reason it looked like crap and was put on 3 discs for the 360 is because square confirmed that FF13 has over 32.6 GB CGI scenes and only 6.8 GB of in game content

@thehorrocruxes so to fit on 3 discs they had to compress the CGI scenes and made the scenes run at 576p and even the in game content was also compressed due to the CGI scenes taking up so much space. so thats really stupid so FF13 was more of a movie then a game while FF13-2 isnt like that. this time square did things right because they developed both games at the same time and didnt need to port FF13-2 to 360 or ps3 and because of that both versions runs at native 720p and on 1 disc for both

FF13 was in total 37.6 Gigs but its been confirmed by square themselves that FF13 had over 32 GB of pre-rendered cut scenes and only 6.8 GB of in game content so thats why it was on 3 discs for the 360 and thats why it was compressed to fit on 3 discs but FF13-2 didnt need to go through all of that. the game looks better then FF13 and runs at native 720p on both consoles so again your very wrong

@thehorrocruxes and again your wrong. the 360 version takes up 7.95 GB while the ps3 version takes up 14.4 GB and the reason it takes up that much is because the ps3 version uses loseless PCM audio and that takes up a shit load of space especially since its lossless and that alone takes up about 7GB of space just for the loseless pcm audio and since the 360 uses dolby digital 5.1 live lossy audio it doesnt take up so much disc space like lossless PCM audio does. understand ?

i'm sorry but the recorder used has to low a graphic out put to actually show the difference between the two clearly, but based on the software in both systems the PS3 should have the better graphics for this game. (but this depends on the age of the system and weither it is one of the original release PS3's/ 360's)

Personally I think the PS3 looks a bit smoother and the lighting looks a bit more realistic than the 360. On the 360 I am noticing HOW SHINY AND CRISP everyone's hair is. Meanwhile on the PS3 the hair looks almost natural. The color quality seems to be a tad better on PS3.
Not trying to hate on the 360 or anything, but you can tell the difference between the hardware. PS3 does have better hardware, so obviously it will look more natural. I surprised on how well it looks on 360.

there's nothing fake about it. the ps3 version is the better version with a more solid frame rate and smoother edges and no hair dithering and better sound and video. Its not surprising since the ps3 was the lead platform during its development. Unlike the first game, the 360 version doesn't completely lag behind the ps3 version and that's why some people have a hard time telling the difference time around.

It looks like PS3 has proper Anistrophic Filtering & Anti-aliasing enabled, that and the PS3 has less stuttering and screen tearing.
And the colors seem less saturated on the PS3, this is a good thing for me.
But honestly, FF's shouldn't even be on the Xbox, I'm not saying that the 360 version (nor the console itself) is horrible, but I've always seen FF's to be PS only games.

I noticed that it depends on the scene. In some scenes, the picture was more clear and sharp on the PS3, and in others the Xbox 360. So, honestly, it looks like it doesn't really matter.

I own both a 360 and PS3 and I've downloaded the demo on both consoles to try and see a difference and it seems like the 360 is slightly more clear than the PS3 version, which is weird because FF13 was vastly superior on PS3. I wonder what changed lol. I'm not sure if I want this on 360 for achievements or PS3 for the extra content since I played FF13 on PS3.

@brbforsnacks It's called, there are clear differences between the consoles and simple fact is that the PS3 does have superior hardware than the XBOX360, however the XBOX360 is significantly easier to code for, which gave it a lead in the early and mid phase of this generation.As we enter the late end of the generation, we're now seeing that the PS3 is a late-bloomer as developers have achieved a grasp of the coding system. I'm a game developer myself and have worked with both systems. PS3 > 360

PS3 version will look better mostly during cut scenes, However once again the Final fantasy series is held back by the xbox 360. In order to achieve 1 disc for both games square admitted to toning done the pre rendered cut scenes to run in real time to have less space take up the disc. 13-2 is great and i enjoy it but we all know VERSUS is going to destroy all sorry 360fanboys its exclusive

You'll get a great game experience regardless of what console you play it on, but the fac of the matter is that if you have BOTH consoles then there's no reason to get it for 360 since it is better for PS3 regardless of what people want to think. If you only have a 360 though you're not missing out, it's not like we're saying PS3 vs Wii here.

Both consoles are just as good, it depends on what system the game was first designed for. It's been shown on many sites that for FF13 at least it was designed for PS3 then ported to 360 and runs at 567p or what not and then upscales, with videos being way more compressed so PS3 is def better for FF. However take a game designed for 360 and ported to PS3 and you pretty much get the opposite where the 360 will look better.

Sometimes I think people post videos like these to start comment wars between PS3 and XBOX fans for the uploader's entertainment and console fans out there fall for it every time. The comments are more entertaining than the video itself. Both consoles have their ups and downs. Although I use a PS3 myself I dont go out of my way to bitch about XBOX because microsoft also makes good games. I use a ps3 cuz I had the first playstation and I'm just used to it.

@HIvanH91 The games on a single disc for both systems. The reason it was on 3 last time was because of all the CG cutscenes. Because this game was in development for only 1.5 - 2 years or so, they didn't have enough time or money to make all those CG cutscenes, so they were able to fit the game on one disc for 360. Clearly, that is not 360s fault, but of course that won't stop the console purists.

Youtube is NOT the place to be comparing graphics; to have any semblance of quality you need to render it right, and youtube usually compresses it below actual quality anyway. I forget where I found this, but the XBox 360 version is rendered in 576p (for FFXIIII at least) and the 360 upscales to 1080p. By this reasoning, the PS3's picture should look sharper since it isn't compressed followed by upscale.
Anyway, just enjoy the damn game; graphics are really irrelevant in this day and age.
