Well an OOR can happen with Brunswick and AMF. The pin slides off spot to far. If the deck is clean and the bottom of the pins are clean it will not happen as much but still possable especially with light weight balls and soft throws. No Slip Pin Spots help alot.
lol umm i work on these kind of machines i have to re set pins LIKE Crazy on our Leagues but u cant Break a machine from this kind of mistake. not ur fault it happens its just unluck :) but thats no reason to get kicked out for a month.
I wish they'd put a more sound-deadening material on the sweeper because it's getting kind of old always hearing the "clank!" of ball impacts. Especially if I'm on like Lane 5 and someone hits the sweeper 15 lanes down from me. The average bowling participant still isn't courteous enough for me, sorry to say--especially in parties. =)
It is much easier to do it by hand. And some people clear the deadwood, reset to first ball, then reset it again, and THEN set it up. But what I do is raise the deck off of the pin, clear the deadwood, set 10 on the floor, trigger it so it will sweep on first ball, throw a pin where ever it is needed, flip the 180 forward..and were good to go. Much more complex, but thats the way I have always done it. =]
By my College, the bowling center here has As. and if there is an OOR, the machine actually keeps cycling. The deck hits the pin, then goes back up and stays up, and then the rake does not sweep, it just goes back up. so i guess all they would have to do is clear the deadwood and respot the pin?
What you are saying may be true. That sounds like the A-2's though((I think)). I may be wrong, but I know that the A's that I work on, if there is an OOR pin, the deck will come down and just sit on it, like this did, so, you must pull the OOR lever, and the machine will overtravel 90 degrees, to 0 degrees and thats where it stands, then you move the pin to where it orginally was supposed to be, ((a league bowler ususally knows which one it was)). Sorry if im wrong. Let me know!
The owner did tell me the machines always had that OOR function so i dont know if it is a mod. or not. They are definitley As because they have 90 degree overtravel, the only mod done to them is that they have shotguns installed, but most of them either dont work or are disabled lol. The As that used to be at the bowling center at home worked that same way yours do. Question, on your machines with an OOR does the gear box stop instantly or slow down?
haha..yeah..our shotguns are not very reliable..some of them have minds of their owns..some work..some dont..but about the gear box. It does slow down..Im glad I can finally talk to someone about these things.
It doesn't matter which pinsetter really. Whether it be A's, A-2's, or even JetBacks, they all stop on the pin (except for open play most of the time)
Im sorry..I made a mistake!!..after having an OOR pin tonight, I started chatting with one of the other mechanics..and I was wrong when I said the gear box slows down, it does indeed stop. I apologize!
ahh good to know. :) yeah about the whole shotgun thing, the As that used to be at home never had them. I find that to be a good thing. because while they may reduce deadwood calls, they seem to trigger whenever they want and sometims even right as the ball is thrown, and the rake gets hit. i also think it just looks cooler (after 1st ball) to see the rake and deck come down at the same time. lol :)
Sometimes, if you watch toddlers or kindergarten-age kids bowl really slowly, the rake will come down on them if the ball is on the lane for too long. I figure, wouldn't you want it to do that if the ball's NOT on the lane?

It's happened to me LOT if I play 10-pins bowling -.-
One time, I broken the pinsetter. Because it's pressure on pin. So I was kicked out for month.

Funny how when one little thing happens and these machines just LOSE THEIR MIND!

If I was the mechanic on this lane, it would have been easier to turn off the machine and clear the deadwood by hand then reset the 2 pin by hand!

wow..I never heard of them triggering before the ball even gets to the pins..but hey..im sure it will happen sometime..=p

I took out the 1-5 by hitting the rake when it came down on me one time!

^He could have, but he generally throws a gentle curve for those middle spares.
BrownWolverine 4 years ago
Why did he curl it roung like that in the last few seconds, could he not have just bowled it straight at the pin?
hoarp001 4 years ago
The only bad thing i could see happening is the pin slipping and then the deck falling!
