In high school my house was the house could party at. Smoking pot mainly, we always had a group friends over, there would be between 5 to 8 of us al the time. For about 2 months we listened to Orbital, a parent couldn't be more proud to see eight high school kids sitting on the floor quietly for hours.
This is one of my favorite songs and the one I was lucky enough to find Orbital through. I remember the video from the mid-90s and will always remember it. MONSTERS EXIST. [gulp]
hey i want to make an animation like this...but I'm a complete beginner....anyone have any idea where to find out how?...it looks more complicated than just stop motion...how do you make the person walk slow when everything around moves fast?
I heard this for the first time when I was about 5 years old and I swear, I've only just found it now. I just couldn't remember the name! Years of searching is finally over lol
She moves very, very slowly, so when the editor had speeded up the shots, in a way she looks like walking regulary, it looks like she was shot by a "frame by frame" technique.
Simple and brilliant idea. I gotta try this on day :-)
Orbital videos always have to be so mysterious and philosophical... *sigh!* I for one wonder what on earth that foot thingy on a burned shopping cart out in the water is trying to represent! A metaphor/critic on our consuming society; that everything we consume evetually ends up burned and wasted in the sea? Or something?
@erinISsudsy What happened? MTV stopped playing music videos. MTV used to have awesome shows like Headbangers Ball, Yo MTV Raps, and Amp... Now it's just retarded reality shows. Amp turned me on to Orbital, Aphex Twin, and Autechre among others. But this particular song/video really struck me. It's absolutely brilliant, especially if you hear The Box part 1 and part 2 together. They actually have a new album coming out, and the single is already out.
I just get goose bumps when I listeningtp this could go out had only MTV chillout every night a listen to good music of Orbital, ken eshii , fluke, and flo
This was my first CD that I got when I was 16 in 1995 from my father. And I'm a 31 year old black lady from southern New Jersey, USA who fell in love with this genre of music. He was progressive too like your dad(s). Nice to share.
@nicole79acosta Wow, that´s cool! My fathers used to listen things like Chick Korea, Acoustic Alchemy, Chemical Brothers, Ozric Tentacles and Orbital.
Insides was the first CD I would be handed by a close personal friend of mine, It remains the most influential album in my life, and was taken away from me by father for being "Satanic" He is not progressive, and I would have loved to have had a father like yours. Orbital is my jam.
I remember seeing this video on MuchMusic years ago, and thinking, "Who the heck is this?" And ever since then, I had wanted to see the video again. I am now a HUGE Orbital fan!
I think I haven´t ever heard a song with more intensive build up that this one. The longer mix with parts one and two has even more tension. Really amazing stuff, never to forget.
No, it's Alexandra Maria Lara ... leading / big roles in Downfall, Youth Without Youth, Control, Baader Meinhof Complex, The Reader etc ... Romanian German actress, would have been 18 years old maybe back then?
Most people who are major fans of certain types of electronic music like Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Orbital have SPD (Schizoid Personality Disorder). Try this personality test and no i dont work for them and its not spam (just google personality disorder test)

@AlexanderDupont vintage synthesizers, samples from real instruments here and there, for that really nice bass they use in some tracks, tb303 there are emulations of them in software format, rather than you spending about a thousand pounds for a real one. I make music myself, and i can tell you samples and sounds and inspiration exist everywhere, you just have to have your ears and mind open to it. Even things that don't sound musical.
