  • what year block is that i didn't think the tip holes would match up with cretins blocks?

  • Nice engine build. I hope by saying it's a monster that you are talking about the engine. A 2 inch lift on 33's is hardly what I would call a monster.

  • bad as

  • what airfilter is that, I am about to build this engine for my 93 chevy pickup and want a cleaner system like that.

  • Well chosen music! :)

Interesting conversion project, nicely done! Must have been quite a bit of work to get it done!

  • Thanks alot for posting your work! It does help. A couple questions. From what I seen, you used the 713087 advanced bolt in mount. +5/8" rearward placement? I will probably be going with the Novak engine mount, can you give one specific dimension for engine placement? Like a measurement from cranks snout to front tube crossmember? And, did you have to upgrade your front springs, or do they handle the added weight of the sbc ok? Thanks again!

  • i hate the wheels

  • where did you get that air intake?

  • Wouldn't a 4L80E fit just as well as the TH350??

  • what were the main components that you needed to wire lol besides the injectors to get it going any sensors of importances to look for going to be doing similiar project thank you ps awesome monster

  • what were the main components that you needed to wire lol besides the injectors to get it going any sensors of importances to look for going to be doing similiar project thank you

  • wow very nice!

whats the song by the way :)?

  • STEEEEVIE !!! Love the jeep nice job

  • Hello. Not difficult. The two center intake bolt holes had to be elongated and I cut some taper shims out of 1" brass rod to make angles washers. Worked out very well.

  • was it hard putting the tpi on that motor? this is the first one i saw done with side bolt vale covers. any suggestions? thanks

  • nice jeep man...!! just wondering what kind of filter is dat n how can i get one?

  • Very nice. I was hoping to see it run at the end, but it's still a five star video for having SRV music.

  • very well done

  • Thank you. I'll be posting a new video in the next months showing a new hybrid Jeep build.

  • awesome rebuild man!! love vids like this

  • Thanks a lot. I am now putting in a CJ8 frame with Grand Cherokee suspension front and year. I'm totally ready for the Grand Cherokee cadillac-ride ;-)

  • i see BC plates! where are you from? sweet jeep by the way!

  • Hi there. Thanks. Creston. You?

  • Nanaimo on Vancouver Island

  • awsome song, love it. nice vid 2

  • Hey- thanks.

  • howd u put that air intake on? isnt that where the MAF sensor goes??

  • Most hot rodders prefer Speed Density systems. The temperamental and expensive map sensor goes and is replaced by a different computer and a sensor that records the plenum vacuum instead. My sensor is inside my computer mounted in the Jeep. Just a vac line running from the plenum to the computers.

  • cool man...how much of a power increase if any?

  • Both are tuneable but I think the Speed Density (MAP) system is much easier to DIY. All of the popular after market injection packages are of the MAP type, I think. It runs WAY nicer that my old carb. The megasquirt parts cost less than a good performance carb and you can buy and entire TPI setup from a wrecker for cheap...

  • It should say:

The temperamental and expensive MAF sensor goes...

  • i bet that tpi gives you all the torgue you need down low and more, huh? i like it. been thinking of putting a tpi intake system in my '79 chevy 4X4 short bed. they give good gas mileage and, like i said, low end torgue.

  • Hi there. The TPI runs much stronger than the old Quadrajet in the rpms where I use it- 800 to 4000 rpm. Just so you know- the block hugger headers I installed DO melt the driver-side moto rmount just as others had warned me... I still have to fab up a heat shield. I've added more fuel to my engine through the Megasquirt ECM so now I really need to get that 700R4 into the Jeep for better highway economy. I don't think I'll run at 22 mpgl anymore, but 19 or 20 at 55 mph would be nice to see!

  • two words, damn nice. only thing i'd do different is use headders instead of the manifolds, it's sounds better and you get more power. once again, nice.

  • Thanks! I have a pair of block huggers on it now and just like I was told... the left one is cooking the driver's side motor mount a bit. I'l like to keep them so I need to make a heat shield. It did change my tuning a small amount- had to add more fuel.

I was surprised that it got so much noisier, too!!

You can hear it in one of my videos- dual pipes coming out the back end!!

  • Here is that other video title that shows the headers and the sound!!!

Search for my video with the title:

    Jeep SBC V8 TPI Magnaflow

  • Nice jeep brother. Got the link to this video from the jeep forum. What's your mileage like with what size tires? Novak claims one can get 20mpg

  • Hi there. Yes, 20 mpg is possible. I got 22 mpg at 50 - 55 mph on the highway. This was with 3.07 gears and 33 tires running through a Turbo 350 tranny- no overdrive. Now, with 4.11 gearing, I'm down to 12 mpg on the highway. I can't lean out my fuel table while running at the higher rpm.

I bought a 700R4 tranny (with an overdrive) that will bring my cruise rpm back down to even lower than before.

This should bring my fuel economy right back to where I was before.

  • no offense dude but the jeep doesnt deserve a chevy

  • no offense dude but your a dumbass

  • sweet cool

  • I second jdgby08..

  • cool. once again get a life.

  • i third it.

  • hey, also another thing, did you change the rear axle, because they only have dana 35's, if not how do they hold up to the torque?

  • Hi there. The LT1 is running through an automatic and it does make the shock a little less. The D35 seems to be holding up fine. I have a TrackLock posi in back, 4.11's with 33 rubber...

I used a new bearing and shim kit and the ring and pinion are Yukons- if it helps I don't know. My axles are moly, so that is another weak point taken care of.. No probs with my old guy mild wheeling.

  • Congratulations , look my ´78 gmc 420 hp, .....

  • hi, i just started tearing everything out of my jeep, i am also putting in a carburated 350 in it. what were some main problems that you ran into? how did you run the ignition switch, and did you put a manual choke on the inside? and thing would help. thanks

  • Pretty straight forward. AA Cradle adapter with engine pulled back 5/8 inch. Quadrajet with manual cable choke. I used the same wiring to the starter from the ignition switch... The driveshafts needed work but they were easy. The tranny mount lined right up for all of my tcases I've used ;-) 1sf a Turbo350 and now a 700R4 going in with the engine moving forward 1 1/4 inches. Doing this I won't need to redo the DSs.

  • dAMN, if you ever ran for president I'd vote for you!

  • Thank buddy. When I start my campaign I'll let ya know!

Don't forget- There's no replacement for displacement!

  • 1:24 ASSALISCIOUS

  • Awesome build man!

    I'm planning on TPI'ng my K5 Blazer.

    I definitely love your setup!

  • thats so sick. i bet that thing eats up a shitload of gas tho

  • Since I put in the 4.11s the cruise rpm has jumped way up. It's getting 12-13 mpg at 50-55 mph on the highway. When the 700R4 goes in I'll be into the very lean section of the fuel table and be 20-22 mpg again- still only at 50-55 mph though.

  • eh thats not to bad. i only have a 4 banger haha but its enough power for what im doin at least. i think its a 2 leter? i cant remember. i love these cars tho haha so fun

  • Great job on the build up man. watching the progress made me drool lol. Again nice conversion.

  • Thank you. The project was really enjoyable. I drove the thing practically every day... The parked/down-time was minimal. Jeep and Chevy parts seem to grow on trees. Also, they are both so easy to work on. I think the 350 is a good "natural" fit in the YJ. Later, qcpaintballguy :)

  • What does YJ stand for!? I know CJ stands for civilian jeep but what about YJ?

  • I think the designation had no meaning. Just came before TJ, XJ or ZJ... Of course many peope have called them "youth" or "yuppie" Jeeps... and other names unmentionable. ;-)

  • nice song, ridonkulous jeep. Thanks.

  • Thanks! Nice burnout, too! Never thought of that!

  • amazing, come to chicago and do this for me plzandty

  • Thanks! Chicago...cooool! Never been there before....? Cheers ;-)

  • Stevie Ray and a YJ, couldnt be better!

  • 1:25 looks like my dog.

  • very nicely done! I've always had thoughts of dropping the spare 318 I have laying around into my 03 wrangler... maybe one day...

  • Nice slide show!

  • Thanks, I hope this is useful for any Jeep builder. Jim

  • Thanks, Babe!

  • nice job mate! can you jump on a plane and come down to nz and install this ls1 I have into my 04 wrangler?

  • Good Morning! Thanks, buddy! Yes! I'll work for airfare!

  • Hello Everyone,

Here is a slideshow of my Jeep build. This is for a bunch of people who have asked for more information and pics. I hope you find it useful! Jim
