  • That's a lot of wind

    昔強風の中でラジコンの飛行機飛ばしたときに、同じ現象や上空でバックした経験があった^^

    降ろそうと思ってもどんどん遠ざかっていくので、さすがに慌てたなー・・・^^;

  • @kazbon0515

  • ummm what???

  • unbelievable

  • THERE MUST BE VERY STRONG HEAD WIND

  • Thats crazy how he puts the flaps down really quick the retracts them for take off

  • With this kind of wind you would probably take off by just making wings with your arms!!

  • columbian drug dealers dream !!

  • columbian drog dealers dream !!

  • £ukin hell, thats amazing.

  • Lol, what's the wind speed at that site!

  • Why am I seeing so many of these videos lately?

  • this is AWESOME.

  • He could go to wal-mart and just land in a parking space.

  • That's the old "Big Wheels" Jhonny. :P

With that wheels you don't need dampers, you can float in the middle of the sea even.

  • The extra hp helps to quickly get to airspeed, 210hp instead of much less as standard

  • head wind

    dumbass

  • how is this possible?

  • @jockeleu because of the strong wind of 18knt. An airplane achieves lift when enough air passes below the wings. Usually this is accomplished with accelerating the aircraft to a certain speed but in this case the strong wind is doing the work instead.

  • @BilldalSWE

Generally it's a lot more to do with air passing OVER the wings. The top of the wings deflect air down, causing lift. That's why aircraft can carry weopons, engines or fuel tanks under the wing, yet still gain significant lift from the clear top surface of the wing. But yeah, a strong headwind definitely helps

  • @BilldalSWE Cool, thanks for the info =)... So it's like when birds "hover" i guess.

  • Hallucinant

  • An example of why an airplane on a conveyer belt can take off.

  • Amazing, absolutely amazing!

  • Moving cargo in Alaska is the goal, so isn't it really about the shortest runway with a loaded plane and no wind or hill in your favor? This really only highlights a cool stunt, not the best pilot & plane.

  • that's a horizontal helicopter. LOL :D

  • i love these cubs on tundra wheels...

  • seems the wind speed so fast

  • Still, at 18 knots, thats pretty good.

  • Fantasic keep it up! CRAZEDpilot . com

  • WOW!!!!

  • Knots are nautical miles/hour so 18 knots is 33 kilometers/HOUR.

  • Digne d'un décollage de porte avion !

  • For those who wonder.. 18 knots = 33 kilometers.

That is the wind speed at the site.

The aircraft is heavily modified Super Cub and will compete in the town of Valdez (Alaska) for the short take off prize that is measured in tens of feet rather than the hundreds.

  • 18kts.. those must be some ultra light aircraft

  • how strong was the headwind?

  • What was the wind speed there?

  • thats some serious motor in that craft

that aint no head wind thats all motor

  • thats some serious motor in that craft

  • What was your weight and balance config for this? Dump the tundra tires and you'll probably go shorter in similar conditions.

  • This thing could take off in place in the wind generated by a Harrier doing a vertical takeoff nearby.

  • thats insane!

  • take that helicopter lovers...

  • What a headwind.

  • The plane is built by them, and it was probably built to be VERY light and to be able to take advantage of very strong winds.

In normal weather conditions, I don`t think that engine has enough power to do such a lift off if the plane was manned or heavy enough.

  • I wish my Piper Warrior could do that...

  • Someone should get a Harrier jump jet and troll them :D

  • @Arxces Akshully, A Harrier? I think it would go more like "lol yours cost $30M mine cost $5k. U jelly government?"

  • That is so awesome!

  • listen to the wind, took off like a kite due to the fast wind.

  • Just heard about this on the radio. Wow, I wonder if he filled the plane with helium lol.

  • How is that take-off even possible? That looks like a video-game take-off.

  • zero wind....????...LOL

  • HAAAAAXXXXXXXX!!!!

  • wow, very very impressive.

  • Never seen that before! Good job!
