Because I couldn't really hear any melody in the more extreme ones. Like you say, it was just noise. But now a few years later, I can pick up melodies in even the most extreme stuff out there. To quote Maniac of Mayhem: "Black metal is like opera, you have to train you ears to like it".
I went to tokyo earlier this year ,I sat on the roof of my friends apartment block alone looking down over the city at night with its lights with this song on my Ipod. Best feeling I have ever endured!

Check out Burzum if you haven't already. I suggest the songs Dunkelheit and Det Som En Gang Var. It's black metal, but still very similar. I mean Sweet Love For Planet Earth could be a metal song if I didn't know any better.
I dare you to find a Burzum song with anything about the Nazi's. Anything racist even. He sings about Lord of the Rings, fantasy, Norse mythology and darkness. Now it's true that Vikernes is a racist, with neo-nazi tendencies. But that not what his music is about. Besides, good music is still good music.
I'd still listen to Michael Jackson even if he was a pedophile. I'd watch Roman Polanski movies even if he is a rapist. Same with C-Murder who is a convicted murderer, and Snoop Dog who smokes weed. I actually do listen to real national socialistic metal music. I also listen to satanic and even christian metal. I just don't care, as long as the music is good. And it just so happens that Burzum is one of my top 10 favorite bands, so it's not even just "good music" to me.
@Motumz The point was that there are plenty of people who listen to Snoop Dog even though they're against legalization of weed (Or hoes and gang banging and shizle). Yet they would dismiss racist bands immediately. Which isn't consistent. But now that you mention it, I had a really shitty experience with weed. And I'm never planning on experiencing that again, so I'm done with weed. But I don't know enough about the subject to go into a pro vs. against discussion.

Check out Burzum if you haven't already. I suggest the songs Dunkelheit and Det Som En Gang Var. It's black metal, but still very similar. I mean Sweet Love For Planet Earth could be a metal song if I didn't know any better.

I dare you to find a Burzum song with anything about the Nazi's. Anything racist even. He sings about Lord of the Rings, fantasy, Norse mythology and darkness. Now it's true that Vikernes is a racist, with neo-nazi tendencies. But that not what his music is about. Besides, good music is still good music.

I'd still listen to Michael Jackson even if he was a pedophile. I'd watch Roman Polanski movies even if he is a rapist. Same with C-Murder who is a convicted murderer, and Snoop Dog who smokes weed. I actually do listen to real national socialistic metal music. I also listen to satanic and even christian metal. I just don't care, as long as the music is good. And it just so happens that Burzum is one of my top 10 favorite bands, so it's not even just "good music" to me.

@Motumz The point was that there are plenty of people who listen to Snoop Dog even though they're against legalization of weed (Or hoes and gang banging and shizle). Yet they would dismiss racist bands immediately. Which isn't consistent. But now that you mention it, I had a really shitty experience with weed. And I'm never planning on experiencing that again, so I'm done with weed. But I don't know enough about the subject to go into a pro vs. against discussion.

@fr1skycat I would be very careful about how you interpret that. He is a weird guy for sure, with some fucked up opinions. But I really doubt he actually believes that particular story a matter of fact, because I'm fairly certain he doesn't believe in any deities.
