This is a good version of a fantastic song. Jackson and Warren were very close. Jackson Browne was responsible for Warren's renewed popularity when he returned to the US from Spain in 1976. H played some tapes of Warren's and got him a record contract. I would say that's a pretty good friend. Only Jorge Caderon was closer.

Jackson Browne is one of the only who can sing Warren Zevon songs when he wants and where he wants!

We must never forget that they were more than good friends, like brothers!

And most of all Jackson is a true great man!

Last month I saw Jackson live in San Sebastian ( Spain) and he sang 5 Zevon songs! Incredible but true! So respect Mr Browne!

Jackson was great friends with Warren and has as much right as anyone to play a cover. plenty of people post lousy poorly played not at all planned covers of songs on youtube, so why shouldn't a great musician like Jackson play a heartfelt tribute to his friend?

Jackson Browne helped launch Warren Zevon's recording "Excitable Boy" in 1978 on the Asylum Label. Warren was previously in Spain playing for pittance. But I still admit I like Warren's version of this song the best. And although I like Jackson Browne tremendously, I think Zevon surpassed him as a song writer by far.

Hey pippigladstone, in choosing to abuse JB and resorting to bad language to make your point, displays your obvious lack of vocabulary. The song was written by Warren Zevon, who was discovered due to being championed by JB. Whether you like it or not, as a friend, supporter and collaborater of WZ, JB has every right to do a version of this song. As for JB being "lame", his musical career has suffered, due to his unswerving stance on many political issues, other acts wouldn't dare tackle.

@zambitt1 Warren Zevon wrote "Carmelita", though Murray McLauchlin recorded it first, in 1972. Warren laid down the track in 1976 on his debut album. McLauchlin has paid tribute to the song's writer in many interviews since.

thank you for placing this on u tube. I've seen Jackson in Amsterdam Heineken mh the same year. I've enjoyed the concert but he did not play this song from his friend Warren unfortunately.
