  • this might be a dumb question but do you need to bring extra gas along to make it the whole way?

  • @clarke8554 not a dumb question at all. for a JK, it's not needed but, you will burn through a lot.

  • @wayalife thanks for understanding. do you think a 4runner could make it without bringing any extra?

  • What does it cost to drive on the rubicon, and what kind of planning does it take to tackle something like this.

  • @thelaxer1031 there is no fee to run the rubicon but, you'll want to plan on at least a couple of days to do it.

  • awsome video! aint nothing but mud here in florida, cant wait to head out west this summer. 03" rubi

  • we have a dynomax rock crawler exahust and just have it terminating just past the muffler.

  • do you have a magnaflow or mbrp offroad exhaust on there cause you have no tailpipe and its just a round muffler.

  • Can't play it on my iPad .. :-( Please change the setting ... also the other videos.

  • Video well done! I even like the four door jeeps, but ill put my 91 yota up against any one of them!!

  • @The2006200 LOL!! glad you like the video and, yota's are bad ass - i used to own one.

  • Restarting after a roll like that is pretty risky.

  • @l337pwnage this is an edited video and it wasn't "right after" the flop. all was good

  • i realize the 4 is easier to crawl in but does nobody go on this with a 2 door?

  • @automatc415 It is a lot easier to convince the wife to let you buy a 4 door. ;)

  • @automatc415 on this run, we had one 2 door and on our maple honey run, we had a couple

  • what is better standerd or auto<?

  • @jason1786 i love my manual but auto's are way easier to wheel.

  • @wayalife is the some exemple that you can give me that manual is better, my dad want to buy a jeep with me to begin crawling in same time, but he dont stop to tell me to get manual, but i dont feel like pressing the clutch when climbing a 50 degree rock thank you!

  • @jason1786 sure, the biggest advantage of a manual is that you can actually engine brake your way down a steep obstacle. if you can learn how to wheel a manual well, you will find that you don't need to press the clutch when climbing a 50° rock. a manual isn't bad, it just takes a lot of experience to wheel it well. an auto is way easier on the trail.

  • @wayalife thank you for awsering my question mate, i will begin with auto because i never drove a manual before, what you suggest to upgrade first for basic thing, not like extreme thing, what the price, thank you!

  • @jason1786 tow points front and rear and rocker guards are what i always recommend as first mods. with them alone, you can do a lot.

  • why are all the sway bars on?

  • @AbstractRC Rubicons have electronic disconnecting sway bar, don't need to physically disconnect the sway bar from the axle.

  • @norcobigfootrider i realize that but why were they on?

  • @AbstractRC Its got automatic swaybar disconnect

  • @AbstractRC as mentioned, the rubicon JK's have electronic sway bar disconnects. the links stay attached.

  • its always the grl

  • @TheApesta LOL!!, naw, just this one

  • @TheApesta LOL!!, naw, just this one

  • Like the video

  • I went on this trail in August of 2011, I had a blast hopefully can do it again soon, I have a 1974 Cj-6 and we didnt have any problems with it for once haha anyways thanks for posting the video, loved it.

  • @westcoast201 nice! the rubicon really is a trail made for a vehicle like a small cj. glad that you enjoyed the video.

  • Can I go to Rubicon in dezember or january? I'm from Brazil and I want to send my jeep (Engesa F1) to USA to know your country and, of course, go to Rubicon.

  • @clcanella typically, no. there's usually too much snow this time of year. but, this year, there hasn't been much of anything and so, if you were here now, you could

  • @wayalife Not today, we have 14" of snow so far and it's continuing. Wait a few months....

  • I saw a CJ in there.

  • awesome video

  • What the hell? is this JK's only or something?!

  • @vendeta412 well, this is a "project-jk" video. while we do wheel with all jeeps and rigs for that matter, this run was a jk specific one.

  • Everytime I watch this video now, I crack open some american honey and by the end I'm bawling because I know deep down that the govt is going to make this illegal, and it's just so scenic, I may never get a chace to do it.

  • looks like you guys have a good communitiy

  • i looked up rubicon trail and sure enough every video was with a jeep...i love my 2002 wrangler and cant wait to get a new rubicon and conquer this trail

  • Now what would be better for trailing? the 2dr ruby or the 4?

  • @cliffjump4fun are you asking in terms of putting the jeep on a trailer or pulling one behind it? if the later, a 4-door.

  • @cliffjump4fun if your talking about going through trails, either or is beast but with the 2dr one is slightly better for rock climbs because of the shorter base than the 4dr

  • Does anybody know if it is better to have a automatic for trail riding or is it ok in a manual transmission too?

  • @redneck812273 our big white JK is a manual and we love it. but, if you're new to wheeling, you will find that an auto is so much easier. whenever we wheel our JK with an auto, we call it cheating.

  • @redneck812273 I prefer manual, only because auto obviously picks which gear it should be in and you can F up your transmission faster, with manual you can chose the gear you want and do less harm to the transmission. But if you never drove manual I'll say just go with auto because it still gets the job done.

  • @JustThatGuy716 speaking for rock climbing and trail reasons

  • Do you have any problems with the v6 in the new JKs?

  • @Zachj3 not me. would be nice to have more power but, this v6 gets the job done

  • @wayalife I asked bc I have read alot about how people do not like the V6 compared to the I6 in the older TJs. But after watching your videos I can tell the 4-door JK's longer wheel base benefits you more when it comes to climbing and crawling up steep hills/ ledges.

  • @Zachj3 yeah, and i'm sure a lot of those people don't even own a JK. i have owned both and sure, the TJ had a torquey engine but, the JK v6 does just fine. trust me on this.

  • @wayalife Thank you so much. After watching your videos and seeing what the JKs in your videos can do you just confirmed my decision on buying a JK.

  • when crawling with autos do u use D1 4wheel low?

  • @OwenAVDR yes, you want to be as low as possible

  • niceeee literally 1 dislike

  • @ 4:50 literally RAPING that climb.

  • Comment removed

  • @thekiller2133 pls email me the upgrades

  • 6:40 'Play dead Jeep, play dead. Goood jeep! that's a good boy!' See, Jeeps can do anything, who needs a dog lol.

  • thinking about trading my 350z in for a JK

  • im so glad when i turn 16 im getting a jeep wrangler im so excited for 1

  • What would you say is your ratio of manual to automatic transmissions? I know it's a little easier to only have to push only two pedals, but i was wondering what most people took out on those trails.

  • @BsGms3 75% Manual 25 percent auto

Thats a little giving to the automatics as well

  • @BsGms3 while we have a manual, most of the people we wheel with have autos. maybe a 4 to 1 ratio of autos to manual... maybe higher.

  • what type of tires are those?

  • @zzhippy42 don't know which ones you're referring to but, most of us are running toyo mt's or bfg mt's

  • Very nice production.

  • I got a '01 Jeep TJ, and I've been wheelin it since I got it. I've been all the way through the Rubicon 9 times, along with MANY other trails, on 33 inch tires, 3 inch suspension lift, stock drive terrain(with the exception of an air filter), stock axles w/ limited slip diffs, a winch, roll cage, and body armour. Point is, you don't need huge, fancy stuff to do these kind of trails. I got no body damage. Small upgrades will do just fine. Check out my channel if you wanna see it :)

  • Gettin a piece of shit jeep for a first car, gonna fix up the shit out of it =) I'd rather a rubicon, but wranglers are fine

  • that one dislike is a chevy fanboy.....

  • I miss the rubicon! I wish my dad did not sell his toyota 4-runner. Full support to any Rubicon stuff!

  • The best line ever! "I am broke I own a Jeep" I understand LMAO

  • damage report for the flipped JK?

  • that looks like alot of fun, i am planning on getting a jeep as a first car. would you recomend it?

  • @wildflameproductions of couse i would ;)

  • @wildflameproductions I would recomend it 100%. I've been wheeling mine since I got it back in '01. They're really great built vehicles, and they last a long time. One thing I would do though, is look at the late 90's to early 2000 TJs. I think that it's 1998-2003. Anyway, they had the best engine, transmission, and transfercase Jeep ever produced. It's the toughest, and most reliable for wheeling. The only thing I've had to replace on the whole drive terrain is the belt. :)

  • @wildflameproductions : I'm more of a Toyota fan myself, but you can't go wrong with Jeep either. They are both a joy, at least to me.

  • 3:08 Best no-door mirror mod for sure.

  • ...Triple post? I meant Wrangler body-style Jeeps in the first post. And my last question is simply... Where could I find some reliable members to add to a team for this trail, when the opportunity presents itself?

  • @ItsaJeepthing17 LOL!! with a long wheel base like that, i would try to get enough lift to clear 35" tires. that'll give you better breakover angles and will make running something like the rubicon a lot easier. with your setup, you should be fine with them. as far as finding reliable members to go with, sign up on our forum and when you're ready to do it, make a post about it and i'm sure you'll be able to find some good folks to join you. heck, if the timing is right, i would join you.

  • Sorry for the double post, but Youtube has limits. The Jeep mentioned in my last post has the Dana 44 30-spline axles, a 4spd manual transmission (1st is granny low), and the stock (I recently overhauled it) straight 6 (after boring the cylinders 30/1000, I think it's like 245ci). Has 31x10.5R15 Wrangler Authority's on it. Would that rig do the job, provided I lift it and buy bigger tires in the years to come? (Planning a trip a few years down the road)

  • Excellent safety, awesome trails, and good-lookin rigs. Gotta hand it to you guys, this looks like it was an amazing trip. I'd love to do it someday. I gotta say though, it always pains me to see a Jeep laying on it's side. :/

Now for the questions. All of you were driving Wranglers. I have a 77 Jeep J-10 that I'm working on (not going to be a show vehicle, but not a daily driver either). It has a 131" wheelbase (if I remember correctly). How big should I go on the tires for best clearance?

  • awesome video and rigs are great!

  • Great video

  • @crzrtx thank you

  • Obviously a Hummer owner who disliked this vid ;)

  • Nice video! How long it took you to finish this trail? Do you think I'll make it with JKU Rubicon with 2.5" teraflex budget boost/OEM rubicon shocks and 17" with 33" tires?

  • @alpa74subi the fastest we've done the rubicon is 8 hours but, most people take 3 days and that's what i would recommend. with your setup, sure, you can make it but, it will take some work to do and you shouldn't do it alone.

  • Stock engines ?

  • @MrPhotoFreakish yes, they are stock 3.8L v6's

  • @96jd13 well, in all fairness, i'd be willing to bet one has but, i'd bet it took a long time and a lot of strapping to do. i have seen pics of the old KJ after going through the rubicon and it definitely didn't make it without it's fair share of battle scars

  • 4:47 is a recipe for a broken-something! lol Great vid!

  • ok what size lift do you recomend for 37`s????

  • @SuperJeep29 well, it really depends on what you're willing to do. if you're willing to chop your factory fenders or install aftermarket flat fenders, you can get away with as little as 3" of lift. if you want to keep your fenders intact, you'll need about 5" of lift or more.

  • the jeep with the 37s what size lift does it have? and do any of you guys have a hemi in the jeeps?

  • @SuperJeep29 there are actually a few JK's running 37's in this video and they all have about 4.5" - 5" of lift. as far as hemi's go, no, none in this group had one.

  • i love the video and how everyone has a huge smile all the way through the vid even during the roll.well on to part 2 lol have fun

  • Are any of the non rubi guys still running the D30 with 35s or over? Also, what gearing would you recommend for running 35s on a JK with an auto? A buddy of mine told me that anything over a 4.88 won't fit in the housing.

  • @foolsonparade our other JK is an X with a D30 up front and we've been running 35's on it for about a year and more recently, 37's. granted, we fully expect to break it someday soon but for now, it's working okay and we're still running it with 3.73 gears. optimally, with 35's, you want to run 4.88 or 5.13's if you want more power. as far as what will fit, it depends on what carrier you have in it now. if you have 3.21's, you won't be able to go bigger.

  • @wayalife It's the 3.73. I really appreciate you answering all my questions. Sorry If I'm getting on your nerves. I'm just too lazy to go to the forum lol.

  • @foolsonparade im runnin 4.88 with 35s on my 2 dr sport

  • @foolsonparade i'm not positive so don't quote me, but I think the cutoff is 4:11. When I bought my blazer it had 35"s and 3:08s. I wanted to go 4:56s and the shop said I would have to change the carriers. so I settled for 4:11trying to save a little money. btw this was also a DDriver.Well, they did the rear first, got to the front and told me the carrier was damaged so I spent half the money it would have cost anyway. really pissed me off. but I really don't think there was any blame.

  • Great video, whish I lived in the States to be able to join you.I own a Wrangler Sport Unlimted with a few changes to the std.Its a great car with great character unlike some modern cars!Go Jeep Wrangler

  • dang no video of the tip over?

  • @rcfreak363 sorry, didn't even see it coming. in fact, the only videos i've ever seen of a tip is when the jeep in question was in a position where a tip was possible and everyone was watching.

  • Hy, your videos, your JK community and your Jeeps are absolutely beautifull!! Thank you to make people dream also at 10.000km away......

One question, is it safe to turn on the engine after a roll over on the side? Isn't it better to wait untill the engine oil is back into the sump and check the oil level before?

  • @ciarlienchi depending on how long your jeep was on its side or if it was on it's lid, yes, you should wait or else you can do damage to your engine. for us, everything happend in minutes and a quick check showed we were good to go.

  • what would you recomend upgrading in the dana 30 axel if I wanted to run 37" tires?

  • @Hpaddic at the very least, i would upgrade your axle shafts to a set of chromoly. i would also work extra hard to go easy on the skinny pedal and NOT install a locker. having said all that, if you wheel your jeep, you need to be aware that the likelyhood of breaking your axle is very high with 37's regardless of what you do.

  • @wayalife so realy what your saying is that I should get a jeep with a dana 44 hahaha!!! a rubicon for short ;)

  • @Hpaddic LOL!! no, not necessarily. you can always upgrade your front axle with a dynatrac pro rock 44. in fact, it's a much better axle than the factory 44 which isn't even a true 44.

  • @wayalife realy!! I didn't know that. but keeping the budjet in mind... beside a few weed-end wheeling, I dont think I'am gona wheel it like you do lol

  • @Hpaddic well, if that's the case, i might recommend just kicking down and getting a rubicon right off the bat. if nothing else, it will come with a better gear ratio, lockers and most importantly, a 4:1 transfer case. these aren't thing you can get for cheap after the fact and totally worth it to get it up front.

  • @wayalife yup I hear ya, thanks alot for all the info realy apreciate it!! and keep up the good videos man, maybe some day I'l get to meet you guys hehe ;)

  • what is the title of the song before disappear of anberlin

  • @aalleexx16 all the songs used are listed by name and artist at the end of part 3 :)

  • what is the title of the first song

  • cool

  • look for Fun Race 4x4 in venezuela, its a real awd Experience, I like jeep too!

  • help i cant deside between getting a truck or a jeep!!

  • @lazarevic95 well, if you can wait till the end of next year, rumor has it that jeep will be making a truck ;)

  • ive become a huge fan of your jeep videos. awsome! keep them comin. i just bought a new 2dr rubicon. i was wondering what the best lift kit for about 3-4'? people have told me to be cautous when buying a lift kit because of possible damage when locking up and/or damage to the other mechanisims.

  • @beacher80 thank you and more videos are on their way. regarding lifts, it really depends on what your budget is and how big of a tire you want to run. are you wanting to run 35's or 37's?

  • @wayalife 33-35's at most.

  • @beacher80 if that's all you're looking for, on a JK, all you need is a 2.5"-3" of lift tops. for 33's, you can practically run them stock on a JK but, i would recommend that you install a simple budget boost like the kind teraflex makes and call it a day. for 35's, a budget boost and a 1" body lift will get you there as well but, if you have the budget and are looking for a complete kit, teraflex, full tracion and OME make great 3" lift kits. i would recommend them.

  • that suspension cam is so sick.

  • @kfizzle441 LOL!! glad you like it - if you haven't seen it already, you should check out the GoPro HD video we did :)

  • great video guys, i am planning to build a jeep from scratch, trying to make it as much like a willys jeep as i can, however i am purpose building it for things like the rubicon, and MOAB. i want it to be completely road legal. that in mind what sorts of things would you advise for suspension layouts? would leaf springs do the job? i noticed most of yours had coils. im planning on having 33X10 tires for it as well.

  • @tallzdatank i suppose it depends on what kind of jeep you're going to start from - will you be building up a willys or something like an old CJ or newer TJ or JK? coils will give you way better flex on the trail and an excellet ride on pavement.

  • @wayalife ill be making the frame body, etc from scratch, and utilizing parts like axels i can find at a junkyard here from wranglers and cjs. i want my powerplant to come from a 4.7liter stroker engine, and im set on having my 5 speed tranny behind it, ive found a dana 300 tcase. so you would recommend coils then? that does seem to be the consensus from my think tank here as well, thanks for the suggestions, any other tips or adivce you could give?

  • @tallzdatank wow, sounds like a fun build. regarding coils, trust me, they are the way to go and if you can afford it, a set of coil overs would be even better.

  • @wayalife Awesome 3 part series. Only makes me love my Jeep that much more. Will be in Moab this coming Easter, hoping to do the Rubicon next September if I can get enough people between now and then to join in on the fun. And the fact that you're willing to stop complete strangers at any point, much kudos to you. My girl used to get upset because I do the same thing, only reply I've ever been able to come up with was "it's a Jeep thing."

  • @cairnsguy22 definitely a jeep thing! hope you can make it out to moab - you know we'll be there ;-)

  • @wayalife Hell yea, I should be an hour West of Breckendridge, CO by then, so really no excuse to not take the 5 hour drive. I'll have to look you all up and share a few beers after a days worth of wheeling come Easter haha. Keep it rubber side down!

  • I enjoyed your video a ton!!!! awesome editing. first question what type of stinger bumper is on the white jk 4 door at about 1min 58 sec into the video, and what is the instrumental music you guys used through out the video particularly at the beginning.

  • @jwrangler15 we're glad that you liked it. regarding the bumper, it's an LoD shorty stinger. as far as the music goes, we have all the tracks listed by name and artist at the end of part 3. go to our main channel and you will see it there :)

  • loves me some Jeep!

  • Absolutely amazing video! 11 out 10 stars!

  • @jhalleau thank you, we really do appreciate it and we're glad that you enjoyed it. if you have already seen them, please check out part 2 and 3

  • I feel like moving out west with you guys, just so i can wheel with your crew!

  • @Running925 well, if you did, you know you would be welcome :)

  • Amazing video and editing. *****

  • @cyerbyandmarge thank you

  • :15 So now I know who is responsible for piecing together these perfect videos. Thank you Cindy. The music against the scenery is simply moving. Makes my want to run out and get my Jeep dirty :)

  • exactly why i want that car.....

  • thumbs up to the guy in the begining im 18 now my first jeep was a 95 grand cherokke 4.0 that thing went evry where always muddy i was in the woods with my buddy in a k1500 with a 3 inch id pull him outa the mud half the time. its just a jeep thing

  • Fantastic videos. Living the dream...

Someday if I am very lucky - I will be where you have been and see what you have seen, with my own eyes.

  • HELL YEAH!!! Man I wish we had a crew like this in Queensland AUS... Good on ya guys!

  • Eddie and Cindy,

Awesome job and beautiful scenery. I plan to go there next year hopefully. Your Stewardship to the Jeep Community is greatly appreciated.

    Brian AKA (Steel Rain)

  • @bakers909 well, if you go in July, you know that's where we'll be :)

  • Eddie and Cindy,

Wow what an awesome trip. Maybe I will a get chance to do that trail one day. Top notch video and beautiful scenery.

    Brian aka Steel Rain

  • @bakers909 Thank you Brian. We're glad that you like the video. If you haven't seen it already, Part 2 is now available :)

  • Can't wait to see part 2. You have the best you tube vids. I really enjoy watching the footage.

  • @fyrmedic22 thank you - part 2 will be uploading today :)

  • great video clip,i luv it........excellent

  • thats good stuff, great editing, thanks

  • oh eff that was surprising

  • Another brilliant video segment, Eddie.

  • When's the next part comin up?

  • @austinax123 we're planning to get it up either sunday evening or monday afternoon.

  • @wayalife I hope you make it this weekend with part 2 - I am hoping to show it at the Australian Jeep Jamboree next week!

  • @JEEPjambo2010 yes, part 2 we will start uploading part 2 on sunday and it should be available that evening or monday afternoon - it all depends on how long it takes to upload and for youtube to process it. part 3 will come out the week after.

  • wayoflife, this video is impressive. Great job pulling it together. How's Tracy's jeep? Was it damaged in the roll?

  • @jamesnkerr surprisingly, there was a lot less visible damage than any of us were expecting and all of it has since been fixed.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!
