There is no closed end to the pen cap. When he "puches it in", he's really just sliding the pen cap down the base of the pen, hiding what comes out the other end with his hand. The spring in the middle applies preasure to a short stubby "pen" at the end, that is designed to look like the other end. Thus, all you see is a spring in the center :]
I'm not a fan of storebaught "magic" tricks. Reading the instructions isn't a talent :P
Magic is one of the few artforms where someone can spend $20 and instantly become a entertainer. Personally I do not have a problem with storebought tricks because everyone needs to start somewhere, and you need to recognize this for what it is....

actually, a little like half inch piece of pen that looks like the pen cap slides down, and the theri is a trigger in the thing which triggers the fake outside piece of pen that looks like the back

that is an extremely cheap trick you dont even have to know anything about magis to get this on the first watch.. try doing it with a regular pen right after the pink pen im sure you bought because you like pink "hint hint"
