Bin Layton is simply pandering to the Islamist block for votes, just like they did with the Tamil Tigers and Babar Khalsa. Somebody (Fintrack?) should also look into why he's such a fan of white-label ATMs--friends laundering money?
no mystery to the lack of democratic process or info, if people knew they would be against it, the War is a Fraud
US/Canada does not invade countries to help them, or we'd start with Uzbekistan whose regime boils people to death. The US is ok with dictators, many of whom the CIA puts in place, so long as they rubberstamp
The US supported islamic extremists in the 80s, Taliban were guests of Unocal and State Dept when negociated for CentGas Pipeline late 90s, deal goes bad so taliban evil
Public policy concerns the interests of the people, as those issues deal directly with the public. The structure of the government is an indirect issue, it is the mode in which certain means are obtained.
Leaving aside the real facts (Harper IS and HAS put the mission to a vote) how do you square this with your Senate video where you argue that the people shouldn't decide the fate of the Senate?
Hillier didn't say Canada had to stay there for 10 more years - he said NATO and its military mission would have to stay there for ten years.
This revisionist history must be fun for you. Harper was the FIRST and only government to ever put our military intervention to a vote in the Commons. The Liberals sent us to Afghanistan with no vote. No debate. Harper has promised that any extension of the mission would also require a vote in the House.
At the time everyone was for the Afghanistan mission, NO PARTY WANTED A DEBATE. If by rivisionist you mean me including Canada as a member of NATO, then I am. Boy was I making things up thinking Canada was a part of NATO.

Everybody was for the mission in Afghanistan at the beginning, no need for a debate.
Now determining public policy should be influenced by the people. The structure of the government shouldn't be susceptible to public whim.
