i need to replace the belt on mine, but im struggling as i have no impact wrench to use, i tried to undo the nut by jamming the variator pulley, but its not working, what do i do? :(
It's too hard to do by hand. It too tight. And even worse to screw it back. Not enough Torque force to keep it tight, And keep it from unscrewing. It would be a disaster if it came loose.. You need the impact wrench.
Go to HARBOR FREIGHT online. You can get on for $24.+7 shipping. But it is powered by your car outlet or a 12 volt battery. Or a $39. Electrical one at Harbor freight.
I'm still learning I have hard time tuning it. But when it is tuned. It is a great ride. I can get 60-66mph. What a rush! But, mostly 62mph. But I like to keep it at 55mph when on the highway. But in short distances, I do 60-2mph.
You can do that or you can just hold the back wheel with your foot against it. It keeps the right pulley from turning. Crude, but effective. It works the same. I did it on the ground. With big the stand on. I was sitting on the ground at the time.
How did you take the nut off the engine pulley assembly - on the left? Mine has teeth on the edge for the electric start - do I just jam or clamp something in there to prevent it from turning so I can take the nut off?
Heard a guy went 27,000 miles really kilos actually 19,000 miles on his tank and no repairs. Only his beltpoped at 20,000 kilos. I think he had super Tank Touring. I did some things to screw up my Tank myself. Other wise execpt for the belt I would have had no problem.

Hi Philip,

Hello Danny-
How did you take the nut off the engine pulley assembly - on the left? Mine has teeth on the edge for the electric start - do I just jam or clamp something in there to prevent it from turning so I can take the nut off?
Thanks in Advance for your tips! Philip

Sean,
Your tires should last atleast 20-30,000 miles. Unless you like to ride over rocks, glass and nail.....Duh!
I find the tires on my Tank yo be of very good quality. They are Cheng Tires.
Check the tire pressure

Sean,
No. Not Yet, they are in very good condition.
What cheap peice of junk if I'd had to so soon. But I check them every day.
