hi i installed dosbox on my nokia 5800 but the problem is that i can't type any thing in the dos mode because i have no virtual keyboard in it, can you tell me where to download this virtual keyboard he is using because the link in the discription leads to a website that has to broken links.

my 5800 musicxpress is some times just stop working and do not respond. what should i do. what happen to it. when i try to unlock the phone it wont let me to see the screen and not responding to me.

@bogdan9875 This seems like the same problem I have and I have yet to find a fix for it. All I can think is to decrease the RAM in the Dosbox configuration (Helped a bit for me) or ask in the DOSBox symbian forum.

@TheLordSaso Unfortunately, even though Windows 3.1 is old it is still copyrighted to Microsoft which means that you would need to buy a copy to legally use it. If you look on Ebay you should be able to find some copies for a pretty low price.

@TheLordSaso I doubt that IE under Windows 3.1 would work as I don't think that DOSBox can 'pass through' a network connection. As for Mozilla - That would require a newer version of Windows and 3.1 in the newest I have had running so far, the others don't boot at all.

If you are looking for a better mobile browser, I'd check out opera mobile

@Ignas359 If you have DOSBOX working then yes!

If you look for a tutorial for running windows on the phone but copy the game files instead of the windows ones you should be able to start and run the game just as you would on a regular DOS system. I'm not sure what the performance would be like though!

@romik19941 First enter "cd /NAME OF FOLDER CONTAINING WINDOWS" without quotes - Ignore this line if windows is directly in the dosbox drive

Then I enter "WIN.COM" without quotes

@manoj4010 Not true - This is basically the same as running any Symbian application on the phone. Dosbox is an application that simply provides a way to run DOS applications on non-dos systems. The phone will only run at the speed it was intended to.

The phone does slightly warm up but no more than it does when watching video/using GPS/Using WiFi.

I'm pretty sure that watching a video on the phone will use more CPU and RAM power than this does. Windows 3.1 was designed for pre 1992 PCs.

Windows booted a lot faster than I expected it to. It's a surprisingly powerful wee phone. Have you tried any games on DOSBOX? I'd be interested to see how well some 286/386 era games run on it. Lemmings would lend itself quite well to the touch screen.

@xeonaphobe You should be able to run dos games on DOSBox as that was one of the main uses of DOSBox however I've not yet tried this - I may do in the future!

I have been able to run DOS programs and they work well without the randomly quitting issue.
