Why are you comparing Silver or white Tequilas? That is the Crap Tequila. Do the same with Anejos. Patron is American not Mexican. DON JULIO is the best Brand of Tequila in the World. Try the Don Julio 1942, it's the best. With patron you taste more of the alcohol more then the agave compared to Don Julio.
You are of course entitled to your opinion. But the fact that you picked Patron over Don Julio tells me your palate is not properly tuned for tequila. I don't even favor blancos and prefer anejos, but I've tasted both of these and Don Julio Blanco has way more complexity and smoothness for a blanco, considering most blancos are nothing but bite since they're not aged.
Patron to me is what college kids drink due to the way its marketed, I dont drink tequila to get drunk at all i drink tequila to enjoy the Nice aromas and flavors and the beauty of the tequila.

You take shots of 1800 Reposado maybe, and anything lesser. Second, Don Julio is much better if you are not a beginner to the world of finer spirits. If you go on spring break, take the Patron, it's sure to get oohs and ahhs. I would also suggest pairing it with the latest edition of Girls Gone Wild.

I just bought a bottle of the yellow Patrón Añejo in the Cancun Airport duty free on the way to Canada for $50, apparently it sells for $100 here. They way they explained the Patron to me it's more or less marketed for "Gringos" and is overpriced. I really wanted to buy a tripple distilled Corralejo but I had another bottle already. Next time!

I am Mexican . My parents are from Guadalajara, Jalisco MX. Were mainly all the Tequila comes from. I honestly DISLIKE Patron.. In Mexico Patron is not a "well liked" Tequila. Don Julio by far has been categorized as of the Mexicos most finest Tequilas along with La Herradura.
I live in Chicago and I drink Don Julio and Corralejo. :)

@missnormy how would you compare the old Don Julio when Julio Gonzalez owned it to the new one? I've read reviews that considered it to still be good, but not nearly as good as it was. Last night I had a bottle of Reserva de Don Julio I aged over 15 years (#9560). It was fricken awesome!!! Made the best margaritas I ever had with it. Haven't tried the new Don Julio since its ownership transfered in 2006/2007.
