this is stupid, video should be called how to connect sata drive to computer externally, not how to connect drive without enclosure, you still need some device.question is how to connect staright to usb port?
This would be actualy usefull for me, because I repair computers for a lot of people, and sometimes I come home with their hdd to try to recover data. So instead of power off the PC, remove case cover, and plug extra SATA cable, and risk my PC configuration, because some hdds just mess my PC... This is a great alternative! :)
i have a 4 gig usb flash drive i accidentally deleted the files that it came with now it says before i can use it i will need to format it but when i try to format it i get a error mes windows can not complete the format im using vista home pre do to some research i think it might be write protected not shore tho please help

what a stupid pos jsut get the damn enclosure for like a dollar or borrow one from another hard drive. thats a fucking waste to buy that dumbshit product.
I just use 7200rpm 2.5 inch drives and run from the USB only. Another choice if you have multiple 3.5 inch drives laying around, just buy a cheap external adapter and take it apart and just slide the harddrives in and out as you please.
CHRIS!!! Any real tech geek would have shown us the computer screen. Come on you are reviewing a product and you provided no screen shots. I love your videos stream but there are a few basic things that you dont do that drive me nuts like this.
go to ebay type in external hard drive - you will see the hard drive case - you will also see a little thingy that plugs into an ide and sata - you should not have to pay much more than $12.00 - i have one for ide and am pretty sure they come for sata - it is about 3 inches by one inch - very, very clunky but if you need to get something off a hard drive and you don't want to have to slave it and open your case - by tilting it i got data off a dead drive that started spinning
All of these were shot around GnomeDex, check the video date. He bought allot of stuff for the conference, it seems. Which is why he's reviewing stuff right now.
that nature vs. nurture debate is really interesting. There is no definite answer if you are made who you are today by nature or by nurture. It's a 50/50 thing; well that's what I hear some experts say.
These things have been on a market some time now. I see no practical use for that other then using it for mass shredding of old SATA drives.Other then that I think its not that smart having bunch of internal drives on your desktop (static electricity)

How is that not an enclosure? I just took the case off my enclosure and I can use the same component to make an external DVD drive.

Enclosure is cheaper than a HD dock. 1/2 the price.
Benifit of the dock is some you can use 2.5" HD's as well, plus it's got quick plug and play if you're often swapping Hard Drive's.

I fabricated a bracket and turned an unused dvd bay into an enclosure that can hold 2 drives.

This sounds like more of a plug for his VM crap geek software than the actual product... VM this VM that.
I like how nerds think its cool to run multiple OS's off like a MAC...
And of course the presenter has no idea what he is doing... Nerds without qualifications...

My side of my case comes off after flipping up 2 tabs
Its just the glass panel that locks in place
And its got this on the inside because you slide it in and it plugs itself in and locks itself in place
So no need for this ^_^
