Yes they share the same year in the title but the closing ceremony that he points out has nothing to do with the subject matter of Orwell's novel.. Orwell's book is about a dystopian society that is oppressed by it's own government and although it's not set on the Earth we know, makes no mention to UFO's or any kind of space travel!
