  • watch?v=-aiNjOJXZwk&feature=g-vrec&context=G21eb6bcRVAAAAAAAAAQ

  • KUGB Rules.......

  • sensei terry oneill but is that sensei brennan ??

  • @Faerun8472

    RESPECT!

  • @Faerun8472 in other words CONTROL

  • who cares what the name of a kick is , its a great kick, and enough to win any fight

  • its ushiru ura mawashi geri not ushiru mawashi geri

  • @mouradmgaber I understand you're adding the ura because it strikes with the ankle, like ura mawashi. But ura means inverted, "ura mawashi geri" is an "inverted circular kick". But when you rotate and throw it from your back, then why would you call it inverted? It simply becomes an "ushiro mawashi geri", that is "backwards circular kick".

  • @Faerun8472 maby not the most imprissive but sure most the effective.

  • @Faerun8472

It would certainly be impressive as it wouldn't knock them out without putting weight into the kick, ergo, following through

  • @Faerun8472

"The most impressive thing would have been these kicks stopping an inch away from the face"

True, but... rotational kicks which stop an inch away from target, they are different kicks. The angular momentum does not just go away, so you need to alter the actual technique in order to stop it. When you throw a kick for point sparring, it is not the same as what you would use for breaking. If you throw a strong breaking kick and suddenly have to stop it before impact, it won't be pretty

  • So this was a points fight and not full contact? Should have been disqualified for that then. If a fight is not full contact then it's not full contact.

  • ushiro ura mawashi geri

    very good

  • esto no es un Ushiro Mawashi geri, sino un Usiro Ura Mawashi Geri

  • @Brom125 Agreed. Ushiro Ura Mawashi Geri is the correct name of this beutifull kick. Nice technique anyways.

  • I think that this video is about 30 years old...

  • bellissimo.

  • Said it once, I'll say it again Liverpool karate-ka are the best. Look how quick Terry O'Neill sensei flys in once he's realised the guys lights are out? Miles Draper was a capable fighter, trained with him in the 80s- not flash, no arrogance quite a mild mannered lad from what I remember.... I was only about fourteen.... Think I was a 4 th kyu.... Enoeda sensei knew he was onto something when he first came to Liverpool.

  • @KeeganBrooks Northern Karateka have the advantage as there are more clubs up there. The Red Triangle being one of them. Are you KUGB? Thought you might be as you mentioned Sensei O'Neill. Respect to Enoeda Sensei, the father of my martial art.

  • watch this vid - yes a fine example of a pure Ippon kick.

then watch it again and watch the referee - the awesome Terry O'Neil. he registers the score instantly and his left arm shoots out very fast to show that But his awareness (Zanshin) is so acute that before his arm is fully extended he clocks the Lad who was kicked is in trouble. he is on him in a shot. He's the master in this clip me thinks.

  • Not impressed. If it was a full contact fight, the other guy would've been protecting himself better, and would gun for a crushing low kick or a KO punch. Knocking someone out in a point-fighting tournament isn't really something you should be proud of, since neither player is expecting the other to go for a KO in the first place.

  • The facts - it is Miles Draper, No it wasn't a fluke he scored often with it BUT he regularly decked opponents with it and really should have been disqualified BUT it was the early 80's, contact was much heavier then AND it was two experienced Dan grades with Terry O refereeing. With Senior grades - If the receiver of a heavy blow got up and went back to the line, Sensei O would award a point. If the guy was too injured to continue he would disqualify. that WAS HOW IT WAS BACK THEN.

  • I don't what the big deal is about...it's a brilliant technique!!!! Not disagreeing with any ones views, but just acknowledging a good kick when I see one

  • @Faerun8472 my point stands. A good dancer will flick you around the face with his foot without hurting you. It means nothing

  • @Faerun8472 thats bullshit. Do you think they taught that originally when the farmers were trying to defend themselves from the corrupt Japanese Gov't of the time?

  • @DunxMeister Exactly right, only a dummy would do that in a combative situation.

  • @Faerun8472 I used to think that....

  • So what happened next? Did referee Terry O'Neill award Ippon or did he disqualify?

  • @DonalPhelan Yeah Ippon was given.

  • I wouldn't be proud of that. If you wanted to use full contact technique, join a full contact tournament. Obviously the victim was at a disadvantage because his mind was set to simply score a safe point, not destroy you. In a full contact fight, the mind set is totally different. I did Shotokan before Kyokushin and I understand the difference of both mind sets in kumite. I love both and I understand kumite spirit should be strong in both styles, but Shotokan style kumite demands more respect.

  • A good karateka must control kicks to the face, I find the uramawahsi's in this video so excessives

  • Wow... that's super hard to pull off!!!

  • Immense technique and timing

  • full contact kumite ?

  • Semi contact non continous. Karate Union of Great Britain in the 80's. Used to be blood and snot everywhere! Look at videos of Frank Brennan.

  • if you watch the slo-mo, he does not take his eyes off the target until his foot is practically on the guys face... so i dont believe this is a lucky shot, he just took the opportune moment

  • OmG, i hope he got disqualified for this kick.

there is absolutely no sign of control and his opponent's head smashed on the ground.

  • dont mean to undermine the winner's skills but this is clearly just a lucky shot, the guy doesnt even look at the target when turning his heels for the roundkick. kyokushin fights shows much more solid and sharp ushiro mawashi keri

  • Not a fluke. He went for his head that was a static target and hit it! If the guy had a lot of head movement and he caught him them you could say lucky. But he knew exactly where that kick was going. You don't need to look at the target. Thats what they teach you as a beginer. If you don't know where your putting your foot tahts crazy!

  • This is NOT a lucky shot - he set the opponent up with a "bait attack" and then very nicely executed Ushiro Mawashi. The only thing missing here is control - he hit him with full power. Ushiro Mawashi is a technique that's really difficult to execute with full control. If I were a refferee at this fight I would be in a great dilema... to award him an ippon for great technique and timing, or to disqualify him for total lack of control...

  • not bad..

  • i dont mean to brag, but the red triangle, greatest club in the world... outside of japan

    as proven in this video

i am surprised miles draper can kick that fast, i was convinced it was sensei brennan until i read the other comments

  • it is not only the techniquw it self....in the slow motion part you will see the timing......great

  • This is the technique i suck the most.

when i try to land it to a small target it always becomes a senbuuker.

  • mmmmmm, lovely.

  • aucune garde les gars normale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lool Et en + une ceinture noire

  • excellent kick. looks like the guy who got hit thought the kick was going to chuudan. this is why you have to block chuudan and joudan at the same time when you see a mawashigeri coming.

  • an uke mawashi is the thing for it

  • not sure what you mean by "uke mawashi." maybe you mean mawashi uke, but even then the meaning is unclear--"round block." in this case a right mid-level down block + left head-level outside block would have been smart. that's what i meant by blocking jodan and chudan at the same time. when you're that close you just can't see where that mawashi geri is going to go.

  • wahat u dsvriped is mawashi uke..and yes, its not uke mawashi :).

    osu

  • Yeah I know the guy he kicked his name is John. Well known for his strong low stance and humour.

  • wow good kick

  • Great combination, Scored by Miles Draper - Red Triangle..

  • its frank brennan isnt it??

  • No sorry, its Miles Draper, and Terry O'Neill is the referee. Great fake punch and kick.
