how to install backtrack 4 on vmware

if i install it and enter a username:root and pass:nothing

it tells me that the pass or username is incorrect???

works the old username and pass with the new backtrack too

@naginouman not exactly sure what problem your having could you please explain in full sentences not baby talk. for now my best advice would be to uninstall vmware and start again from scrach.

Can anyone give me a short summary how to install VirtualBox/BackTrack 4 in a windows xp computer. My WiFi Adapter RealTek RTL 8187 doesn't make contact.

Command: lsusb results in: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 80ee:0021 VirtualBox USB Tablet+Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

No RTL 8187, which is usb-connected to my computer. (And connected to my internet modem. This works).

As a reply, a short summary about how to install the RTL 8187 correctly. With other instructions.

hi i have a nice question for you...can you use BT on laptops? cause i followed your process here and installed perfectly the BT4 on VMware..but when i start to use "airmon-ng" it just went blank on interface chipset and driver..im using an external adapter (Alfa)..thanks alot good vid. hope to get an answer soon.

Yes it can be used on laptops but t omy knowledge VMware doesnt support wifi cards. So unfortunately i dont think that airmon will work. Correct me if im wrong though.

why it didn't asked you( and me) for a personal info like username and pass by the install ?!

I tried to create another user after the install with createuser {my_username} but it has faild with some kind of database error.... Why ? i think I'm no the only one who has this issue....
