  • OSU Sean. Thanks for the kind words. We miss you in class - come by and say hi.

  • OSU Sensei Turoff! Sensei Anderson must be proud to have produced such a fine teacher! Great form! Koguma Forever.

    Love and Respect

    Sean

  • Nice kata, always nice to see others perform this old and great kata! Perhaps too much thrust with the hips in breathing in?

  • I used to train with Sensei Dave Anderson and I remember when you wore a purple belt. It has been a long time. Johnny.

  • Johnny who? Perricone?

  • Actually, it was Daisempai Berger that taught me what little I know. I've also seen the Peter Urban Kururufa, but that's not the version we practice. Daisempai got a fellowship at Queens Hospital, so he'll be here with us for a couple of years more. He, Brenna and their two boys live in Flushing.

  • I've been shown kururufa and have done it a few times with Daisempai, but do I KNOW it - no. Not yet. I haven't gotten to suparinpei at all yet.

  • I actually posted these (a) because I had them and (b) because I was experimenting with You Tube. Daisempai Berger and I are talking about creating an underbelt and upperbelt kata DVD with each kata performed regular speed and defined with explanations. Some will get posted on line.

  • What is this? It's NOT kyokushin. :/

  • Our style is GoJu Ryu. My teacher, Sensei David Anderson, was a student of the late Master Ron Taganashi with whom you might be familiar. Do you have a video of the kyokushin version? I'd enjoy seeing it.
