It's not her grip that's the issue. Whoever taught her to use the outdated and unstable 'cup and saucer' hold did her a disservice. She'll never forget that stance, and it'll take much repetition to be able to naturally go to a good hold with a weaver stance +/-.
Dude! She should elevate her left hand, put her left index finger on top of the checkered trigger guard and rest her left thumb on top of her right thumb fingernail before setting on the trigger...THE ULTIMATE GRIP!!!
Nice shooting. She might want to try holding the gun higher on the grip with her right hand and supporting the other side with her left hand instead of putting it under the gun.
I've got to the p226 elite in the now defunct .357 Sig model. Great gun, but I'm probably much better (as most people would be) with a lower caliber, particularly .380.
Don't understand the weight/felt recoil thing in this case. I own a 226 in 9mm and often used to rent a Glock 23 (Compact .40). Couldn't feel the difference in recoil, or mind the recoil from either gun, even shooting weak handed. And I'm not all that strong of a guy.
Very nice!! I have a Sig 226 9mm. It is the best handgun I have ever owned. I prefer a full sized pistol, like the Sig. because it is easier on my little wrists. It's the equal and opposite reaction thing. LOL A smaller lighter gun has more felt recoil. Anyways, great shooting, keep at it. Good Day!!! Ms Shannon
She did good. Aside from grip (gun hand & support), stance and aiming I also recommend practicing drawing the weapon. A quick draw is at least half the fight in a gun fight.
Did you know that here in MASS we can't buy or use those targets that "look like" a person because shooting at a target of a person promotes violence (or something like that). How F'ed up is that?
Sweet jesus! she fired a .40 Sig Sauer p226? Nice shooting but like most of the other posters are saying, shes cute, but theres always room for shooting improvements.
Great! I just bought a Sig Sauer P226 9mm. I haven't taken it to the range yet because I have been dryfire practicing for about a month now. Practice makes perfect. :) But yeah 9mm and .40 bullets are very hard to find :(
hey hows that x5? i've got a reg 226, just wondering if the added barrel length improves the gun that much more. site says under 2 inch groups at 50 yards.
There are a bunch of range pro's on here, geez...It was her first time shooting and I was happy rounds were hitting the target. We have gone over a few more fundamentals with her grip, stance, and aim. Her grouping has greatly improved. I agree with the previous poster that we'll hand her a 9mm next time.
Great that you all know how to shoot...EVERYONE should take advantage of our 2nd Amendment rights! Like a lot of people have already said though, I think she should probably go with a 9mm. Less stopping power, but she'll be able to control it better, which is great if she ever really NEEDS to shoot...with that .40, if she missed the first time, recoil and stress would probably throw the rest of the shots too far off to help her cause.
I've got a sig and it is a 9mm, boy do I like it. In reality though, women need guns more than men do because crime is often committed more toward women. That was some descent shooting too. 10 shots in the kill zone is very good.
Kristens aren't good at shooting.

Elk grove gun room is terrible, do not shop there. They are way overpriced and they are dishonest.

Wow... What do the police practice shooting targets look like? Dinosaurs that are pink?!
That is amazingly stupid, I think MA needs to remember some US History...

and to think that the relatively heavy weight of the X5 diminishes the recoil...let's see her with a glock...

Yea and the price is like $500 dollars more..just for an extra 0.6 inches to the barrel and a beavertail? Whats so different about it?
