Mahalo, yes this is the time of Ku and he has many faces in the NaKanaka community, so the battle with-in ourselves is the first to go down. Then after the real battle will begin.I hope that our children will use the same 'akamai' that our Queen Liliu used eventhough not too many people know how.Her love and spirit are in our children and they will be smarter than we are and persue the right way so that the wrong can be corrected and our land will be at peace.Kam I turned away from the Civil War.
If Hawaiians ever take a battle stance against the tyranny presented to them by the evil known as the United States of America and its military and people, this is one proud Fijian who would be happy to help in any way physically in your attempts to regain your lands. In my country, we physically fought for our freedom and I believe that talking gets people nowhere, only physical action. Our islands were taken by force, so why not use force to take it back?
That is why Hawaiians are so angry with Westerners, they overthrew their beloved Queen, then later apologized for it; like a an apology would be sufficient for such a magnanimous loss and great sadness for the Hawaiian nation.
On November 23, 1993, President William Clinton officially apologized for the overthrow, acknowledging the illegality of it and the annexation, and recognizing the inherent sovereignty right to self-determination of Native Hawaiians. This just goes to show that the government was wrong, and that they knew they had no right to invade the Hawaiian monarchy and its Queen.
I give the American government credit for acknowledging that the annexation of Hawaii was against the will of the Hawaiian Monarchy. This was a long overdue symbolic gesture of apology and reconciliation.
i have a question for you Hawaiians. i'm not a Haole or a Hawaiian, i'm a Tongan. but if say, the government give you back your land and give you soverignty, that must mean you're going to kick everyone off except Hawaiians, right?
Prior to 1893, Hawai'i was an independent multi-racial country. Kalakaua's privy council included Caucasians, Hawaiians, and naturalized Chinese.
Most Hawaiians are part something else (hapa). Do you really think that Hawaiians would want to kick out half their family? Do you really think that the majority of Hawaiians would want to remove the civil rights of non-Hawaiians having suffered cultural alienation? If you think so, then you really underestimate the intelligence of Hawaiians.
i thank you for your honest and real answer. when the Hawaiians are ready to go to battle for your islands, this is one Tongan that will be right there with you.
Sorry but you are wrong the Hawaiian Kingdom had Hawaiian Nationals that were non kanaka"Hawaiian" but they had to live by Kingdom rules and respect us and our Aina.

i think the apology was a totally empty gesture. its like "yeah sorry were occupying your nation...but were totally going to keep on doing it."
