  • @alvshill Yes, he does sound like Luther Vandross.

  • Classic !! But.....whatever happen to Shaun's soulful tracks that got shelved?

  • Escoffrey is moonlighting as Mufasa in the Lion King at the Lyceum theatre. At least he was last year.

  • Guys, I was on this tune a lot of years ago, and I totally agree, how he was not major is beyond me, but I have always felt this track was too urban for the pop-loving public, and if he was American i think this track would have been a top 10 hit, it's an astounding track, and I love the bassline in 'Gabriel', Never knew he sang it....

  • This man's voice transcends space and time.

And this video is the proof!

  • This Dude *

  • What Ever Happened 2 Dude . . ?

    He Was Good Aswell !

  • this guy was a little bit ahead of his time. there wasn't really a market for these type of artists back then. he'd be BIG CHEESE if this came out now!!!

  • @shank1e well said mate. this guy should have been a superstar 10 years ago, and i just saw him 2 hours ago at my cousins 40th birthday party........great guy

  • @shank1e I disagree, You left this comment here two years ago.... I'm loving the song today.

I'd say he is more timeless than ahead of his time.

  • great. Is this guy from europe?

  • The Whole Esco family is highly talented. I luv DJ Spinna 4 years.

  • A true star... all my respect to you Shaun Escoffery.

Kendjomaster.. this master is undoubtedly...unconsiderably... way way WAY too breath-takingly talented for 'pop idol' or 'x factor'.. THE GUY IS A TRULY BLESSED STAR, I actually order you to go and see the West End's "Lion King", at Lyceum Theatre - just see if you can recognise this most outstanding voice, which left me speechless I must say!

  • love it and him lol

  • Great tune, great singer!

  • is it just me or does he look a lil like he could Todd Bridges bro? lol!

  • i love this song!

  • This song came out in 2000. Lots of true artists of that time, such as Damage, didn't get too much credit. Maybe attention was elsewhere, or UK soul artists don't have much clout in the US, or downloading was getting its surge. Who knows. All I know is Shaun Escoffery is a true artist, love his musical talent. And his compilation with MJ Cole was superb.

  • 2000??? Wow, I didn't hear this until just the other day. I heard the remix. Man, am I late!

  • I remember seeing this song on the MTV base chart in 2000. I agree with your comments on Shaun and Damage especially not getting enough credit. My theory is that The UK was not ready for that type of Soul music which is really disapointing to say. It is only now through Pop vocalists coming out over the past years which has slowly made the public ready for this type of sound. This album and the remix version (Soulonica) is a masterpiece. Go and buy it and you will see what I mean.

  • Fantastic

  • shaun it was good to see you that beer advert and hope to see you singing soon on pop idol x-factor etc...god bless

  • Sweeeeeeeeet... why don't we hear more about him? He's amazing.

  • I love this song, everything about it. his voice is so smooth and the production is first class. make me proud to be British, knowing that we can produce a fine R&B artist that even the american with all there talented artists would be proud of.

  • Fine figure of a man!!! and a voice that makes me stand to attention!!... Yes Sir!!!

  • Biggin up all the UK Soul heads.....

  • Attention!!!! Does anybody on this blog or on this channel have the DJ Spinna remix of this song (Space Rider by Shaun Escoffery)? I heard the DJ Spinna remix on the radio once but can't find it! Any Info would be good and If someone wants to post it to YouTube That would be awesome!!!!

  • i think I got the mix your looking for I can send it to you if you want

  • i love this song! so good, so nice !

  • Thanks have always loved this tune:)

  • *loves it*

  • Another Great song by Shaun. Keep it movin man!

  • What a voice on this guy lol. This song was played here in chicago a lot two years ago.

  • American mainstream radio is at it's worst. Thank goodness for remixes. Joe C, Danny K, and Francois K used to tear up the dance floor with Space Rider and Days Like This at Body & Soul in NYC. That's how I got introduced to this great artist. His album is well worth the money.

  • How good is this guy? He should've made it big time! My sister went to college with him.

  • nice track, is he any relation to michelle?

  • I think brother and sister

  • What a classic tune, thanks for placing this on youtube.

  • I always think of Shaun Escoffery when I think of the injustice of the mainstream in the UK. They'll loud and overrate someone of average talent like Lemar and a vocal heavyweight like Shaun gets overlooked. I adore this tune and his very deft sampling of an legendary soulful house track 'Gabriel'. Class act, class tune.

  • Thanks for the comment, really appreciated. It baffles me too. Shaun is unquestionably one of the best genuine artists this country has to offer and i'm convinced he will have his day....eventually.

Until the new material's out, please check out the recently released 'Move Into Soul' album. Quality stuff!

  • 1 of my fav artists seen him so many times at the jazz cafe in camden

  • Wow, if I shared a dressing room with Shaun he'd never get out!!!!!!!

  • Very talented guy.Worked with him in the west end great guy.
