Funny, I used to play it alterning chords and melody in a flat picking style and I've completely forgetten how I did. I think I'd need one or two hours to play it again. I like the way you play and you sound.
Hi, found this very interesting. I'm attempting to learn some jazz lead and this will prove very useful. You say you are using 13-52 strings, are they flat wound? Are you improvising, or would it be possible for me to get a copy of the tab?
That's great, kind of soothing and very appropriate for some people who think there is no end to learning. I am an average bass player but I like to learn your solo as I do play a bit of lead in my spare time. At present it takes a long time to catch up on your solo, so there a music sheet for Satin Doll which includes your solo so that I could purcase. Would appreciate your reply and advice - Ron
r u from Germany? becuz my email notices come out in German. my former guitar teacher was German. i have a question. do u know any online links that'll show me how to arpeggio 11th and 13th chords?
You are correct! The official brand / type name is: Yamaha SA-2200 VS.
I played it through a little Fender Blues Junior (tweed version) with Jensen speaker. This amp has a 'fat' switch which I turned on when recording. A Shure SM-58 mic into a Mackie mixer completes my set up.
Very well done! i learned the chords from my teacher and am able to play along with you. One day I will learn to solo but in the mean-time thanks for the inspiration. 5/5 peace
Hi Tele, I'm missing your talent on the Tube man,I thought by myself here's another guy that lays down such a memorable solo with feeling, would like to hear some more of your playing. You got some Killer licks here man, hopefully be hearing from you in the future, greets Victor.
Okay Tele... Understood! Lol! What I meant was, I was going to play Satin Doll, as it's just the right length to fit the amount of movie time on my Digital Camera! Now I have to play something else that's short, or buy a camcorder! Cheers Tele.. Keep phrsing! John
Oh well.... I better choose another standard to lay down for the Tube! Nice laid-back soloing, lots of influences here and some good phrasing. Liked it. Now, what shall I play???
Hi,very musical solo, every note is felt no cheatin' here,I like that when a player plays what his ears tell him and not what the motoric fingers dictate,if you know what I mean, loved it,full of great melodic lines really heartfelt, thanks greets Victor.
Coming from an fine player like you I take it as a great compliment. Thanks Victor! I certainly watch all your videos, although it keeps me away from practicing myself... ;-)
You know Tele,a little listening now and then wont do no harm,it fills the spirit with ideas, see it as one big Universal guitar and all of us play a part in that picture,by the way I like your TONE very soothing, greets Victor.
Thank you for your response Telebop. I appreciate your candor and can use any information regarding technique. I am using a vintage Ibanez JP-20 (Joe Pass), Roland JC120, and "Band in a Box." I have yet to create the video, so this is a great help. Thank you. By the way, I love Ellington.
This is awesome! Could I pay you for a copy of the study in PDF?

Do us a favor. Don't give us anymore of your so-called "guitar lessons". It's a waste of your time and ours.

5 stars Telebop! I'm going to steal some lines. :)
Thanks for sharing with us on JBGI the way to learn a tune, one position at a time and at a slower tempo.

My guitar study was a personal thing and is not a lesson. If you like what I play.. fine. If not, it's also fine with me.
I am curious how you would teach guitar improv over Satin Doll. Maybe you could be so kind to compose a lesson for me and put it on the Tube?
Regards, Tele.

Your compliments will certainly help me to get me practicing and playing again...
Best regards,

Satin Doll is an assignment for the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute. It's just a beginners vehicle for improv.
You can play anything what you want as long you have some fun during the process... Cheers, Tele.

You aren't 'playing' the guitar as much as you are 'singing' through it. Every note is appropriate and nothing is superfluous.
Even the great Jimmy Bruno is impressed with TeleBop's phrasing. :)

Thanks for your compliment.
I use BIAB (midi-file) to generate a WAV-file (PowerTracks Pro with real drum sounds).
I mic my little Fender Blues Junior amp and play back the audio-file into a sub mixer. Then the audio goes as line in into my Logitech web cam.
