Which is the better version? Both are good...both are histrory. U can also find Judy doing an early version of Pink Floyd's SEE EMILY PLAY.
ONe of Judy's latest solo efforts, from her album TALKING TO STRANMGERS, Jazzbirds, has a King Crimsonish flavouring...she shines best at being herself!
I do like the final KC version better, but really they are so different it's hard to even compare them. The Cheery melody mated with the minor chords in this early GGF version is very nice though. :)
Judy: You did a beautiful job on this song. Indeed, I thought your particular, female, voice was a very nice accompaniment to the mellotron, et alia. Sorry to see you leave KC; it would have been very interesting to see you work with the other 5 on the whole, first, album.
This is by far my favourite rendition of this song...absolutely beautiful....heard this long after the first album version ~ was included on the Young Person's Guide.....
Very cool to hear this version, but these people who are trying to say this is better than the version on KC's first album are......crazy!! No way is this better!
@jeffthrow6892 i am a huge king crimson fan, it is definelty much much better.because of the female voice and some parts are diferent, i enjoy this version much more, but ther eis yet another version, wich i love too, i cant remeber what is that last version i mentined.
I just got Judy Dyble's new CD in the mail and it's the best album I've heard in such a long time!!! She is sheer bittersweet heavenly brilliance!!!! It's called Talking With Strangers.. It's worth buying.. I would have paid double for this now that I've heard it!!
Out of the three different versions I know, this is maybe the one I like the most. The way they play the acoustic guitar + Judy's voice makes this interpretation sound like psychedelic rock. The two other versions have their strengths too. For example the flute in the KC version.
gotta love the lead-guitar in the chorus

This is far better version, IMO. I love Greg Lake in ELP, but on this song he constantly falls asleep.

this is better than the KC album cut in my opinion. Dyble gives it more soul.

Interesting oddity - much prefer King Crimson's version.

It kills the music. In the original version, you could feel as if you were surrounded by the wind.

This seems like the territory the ending of the King Crimson version would have treaded had it not faded out into Epitaph.
That's definately how the live version should have worked.

One of my all time favorites since I first heard it in 1974.
It's the best to me jeffthrow but perhaps it's because I heard this version a long time before I heard the other.

Beautiful, Judy was the Michael Giles' girlfriend, but Fripp send her out from the band, jajaja
marcobandini1 2 years ago
slightly wrong, she was Ian McDonald's girlfriend, and nobody made her leave, it was her own decision to do so.
JudyD9 2 years ago 8
@JudyD9 Yes, you are right, she was Ian's grielfriend, but i think that R. Fripp did not have her in his plans
Cierto, era novia de Ian, pero no creo que ella estuviera en los planes de R. Fripp
