IMO, in a lot of these police-responding-to-riot videos, both the police AND the rioters screw up every time. The protesters need to learn to be a little more mature and not step forward, when told not to. It's called a peaceful protest. I see the U.S. trying to impose its (economic, political and cultural) domination across the world. I try to dig a little bit deeper than the surface to get my news, because as you mention (U.S. owned, affiliated or controlled) media offers only a very limited perspective of what's really going on in the world (which sounds a lot to me like what you're trying to say). And, yes, I do see your government sending innocent (and not so innocent) people to concentration camps (Guantanamo, perhaps?).

This is what happens when you don't follow simple orders from the police. They said back up, the protestors failed to comply. If you are going to protest you have to learn the rules: Do what the police say or their will be consequences. These protestors got exactly what they deserved. Although spraying the pepper spray on the already incapacitated protestor was a bit excessive.

I see the U.S. trying to impose its (economic, political and cultural) domination across the world. I try to dig a little bit deeper than the surface to get my news, because as you mention (U.S. owned, affiliated or controlled) media offers only a very limited perspective of what's really going on in the world (which sounds a lot to me like what you're trying to say). I would also say that getting your news from only one version of reality (the dominator's perspective) and dismissing everyone else's viewpoints (the oppressed) leaves you blind to many possibilities... 'We have no choice BUT to go to war!' Of course, your government wants you to think exactly that. It makes the killing seem unfortunate, but necessary (when it is not). I choose to focus on education rather than politics. Computers are a very handy tool for this (and much more empowering than a gun)! These people were purposely obstructing an act of Congress, that is illegal. They had their right to free speech, they were never forecully silenced by being bound and gagged, no one duct taped their mouths shut, and through them in jail to rot. In reality we are NOT fighting the radicals. Presently, we are using WWII style methods to go after nation states. Al Quaeda is a loose federation of a couple of thousand individuals carrying out bombing campaigns around the world. We declare a "War on Terror" make these terrorist "Warriors" and go attack nation after nation.
