@Monshteiner It's not Greece either. Greece was called Byzantia in the past, but since they changed their name the country Greece is fairly new. The greek population however is another story. So this makes Bulgaria the oldest country on the Balkans and deffinetely the oldest one in the world because the name of the country was never changed. Again, if we are talking about population - it's a different story.

@unlimitedwebsite well yes Bulgaria has never changed it's name {not counting west Bulgaria, which due to severe propaganda now calls itself FYROM or Macedonia},of course there have been minor changes as the language evolved, but they are negligible, and so has the oldest name, but the Greek people ,under another name,were on the Balkans before us(и аз съм Българин =] ) =/ (btw Byzantium wasn't a Greek country, it was the East Roman Empire, which in its later years had adopted the Greek culture)

@rokabililily Macedonia was part of Bulgaria till the early 20th century but after it was taken away from us by the Berlin congress it became a Serbian territory. Macedonia is a new country, it was created in 1990.
