I agree with the comments below saying that many of the 0101101 tracks sound the same. Doesn't erase the fact that this album is a beautiful pearl in my Ayreon collection, melancholic, progressive and theatral! I sense much influence from Dream Theater (LaBrie) and After Forever (Jansen). Just another great album to enjoy for a long time! Better than Human EQ? Well, THEQ was meant to be a mix of various styles, which was unique. I don't think 01011001 equals the power of THEQ's storytelling!
Well, about the Dream Theater influence, the only one that had even a little to do with Dream Theater was Derek Sherinian, LaBrie isn't on this album, unless you mean The Human Equation, 'cause he sang the leading role there XDD
Guys, this is the most constructive argument I've ever seen on the internet, ever.
also- THE is my favorite album for the story (not saying that the music isn't good though, its also my favorite). I guess you could say its a little cheesy, but I guess I like that.
I have heard all of those albums, I own them actually. I'm not going to disagree with you, and my favourite songs from Ayreon are on The Human Equation. For some reason I just like the whole vibe on this album a lot. I will say that I think with this album he could have done more with the talent he had. I mean, only 1 solo from Michael Romeo seemed kinda...unfortunate.
Not too sure what you're disagreeing with though, I just said it was MY favourite album of theirs thus far.
I disagree completely with you. I think this is the best Ayreon album yet...it has something for everyone. Smoking solos (E=MC squared...Michael Romeo dude, cmon), amazing vocals all around, quieter songs, heavier songs, excellent choruses..overall everything a great album should be. I've listened to all of those albums you listed, Human EQ is awesome but I believe this album is better. You really shouldnt say things like "Listen to ___ and then tell me this is better", to each his own dude.
Fair enough but I just dont think this album is as epic as others and Michael Romeo's solo in this is nothing to be writing home about to be honest, its very patchy.
This is better than The Human Equation. It's about on par with The Final Experiment. Electric Castle is still better. Oh by way, you can't have heard this album otherwise you'd noticed that 1) the style changes from song to song, often in a song, 2)there are stunnung vocals, and 3)there is a blistering solo in Newborn Race.
I'm busted.. ok, i downloaded it;) I was lokking around at the ayreon website but I didn't find these soundclips.. Maybe I'm blind or just dumb. Can someone please send me the link to these clips?
I noticed that there were some parts that missed drums and guitars and stuff like that, but on the cd the guitars etc. are there.. Where did you get hold of those with allmost nothing but vocals? This album is kick ass
AkerfeldtRox is correct, this video's audio was made with the stripped down music samples that Arjen released so fans could try and guess who all the singers were. The album leaked a while ago so you'll find full songs in YouTube if you look, however it doens't officlaly come out until next week.
I beg to differ with you my friend... Eric Clayton is THE voice for the character...I could not imagine The Human Equation without him. In fact I can't stand the voice of the character of the astronaut in Electric castle (can't remember the name of the singer right now...)
Same thing happens with Eric...I love his operistic voice...
Cheers mate! enjoy 01011001, so far I'm still getting used to this album... It's quite difficult to hear, but so far it's a good album... maybe in two or three more hearings it will become great
Ok, back to sci-fi theme... Great musicians and the music will be awsome, no doubt. I hope I'll be wrapped up in the story like when I listened to "The human equation"
Pain of Salvation rules btw. Gildenlöw is awsome :D
. . . I got to hear IT last night :) Keeds, when you hear some of your faves enter (for me, when the voices of Jonas Renkse(Katatonia), Ty Tabor(Kings X,Playtapus, Jelly Jam), especially Anneke van Giersbergen (the Gathering)Bob Catley(Magnum)and Jorn Lande(Ark) enter the songs . . . I get goosebumps. Its a GREAT album! :bows humbly to Arjen: -MAVIII(progulus. c o m) <---us fans of the station wait with baited breath :faints:
Hi, first of all, it's a great video. I want to hear it now!!!!.
And a comment, the photo that you have posted about Floor Jansen I think she is not her. I mean I don't recognize her in the photo, and Floor is very tall... Are you sure that the photo is her? (The voice is her this is sure...) Thanks for the video
I can't believe he did it! I e-mailed Arjen in March through his website, suggesting that he check out Hansi and Blind Guardian... He answered me quite promptly saying that he'd check into it...I almost pissed myself when i heard Hansi on the record.
Yeah, good singer. There are a lot of musicians I have albums from in this ayreon album. BG, Pain of Salvation, Katatonia, The Gathering, DT, Evergrey, Epica, Symphony X, The flower Kings :D
The Grunts at the End... Are they on the Album?

It is actually my favourite album in general so far. Not to say I like every song, but I definitely liked it a lot.

Sorry but i have to disagree completely.
All the songs here sound the same, theres no variety, no stunning vocals or blistering solos, it's ALL THE SAME.
Listen to Human Equation, Final Experiment and Electric Castle and tell me that this is better.

Nothing can be compared with The Human Equation... that's Arjen's masterpiece

I have to disagree, I think Into the Electric Castle is Arjen's masterpiece. Eric Clayton ruins THE for me, I can't stand his voice.

It is Floor, the pic is from the Ayreon website. She probably looks short because Arjen is very tall himself.
