  • I bought the DVD only because of this performance

  • Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town & Rod Stewart only need their Spirits and their voices to touch our Spirits! Thanks for sharing your gifts with us.

  • SO Great, JL and talk of the town...and Rod still got it

  • I luv this!!!!!!!!!!! Jerry Lawson the man!!!!!

  • Just heard of Jerry Lawson and Talk of the town for the first time last night and I have to say I am an instant fan. Lord bless them!!!

  • Love them. Im so glad I watched this show. Like this type of singing better than American Idol type stuff.

  • As someone who watched Eric Burden do the original... I was impressed with your rendition. Eric had a way... you guys have a show!

  • @OhRick Great song ,,, tho it was written by Curtis Mayfield and first recorded by the Impressions.. tho I'm sure Eric Burden's version was good too.

  • LOVE these guys!

  • It was worth tuning in to NBC's "Sing Off" tonight (Dec. 8) just to experience the performance of Jerry Lawson & The Talk of the Town. Their voices blend so exquisitely you never want the song to end. Thrilled that acapella singing is making some waves. Kudos to NBC for creating a space for these groups to showcase their skills. Jerry Lawson is the ultimate "COOL".

  • You guys are fantastic!!! Just had the pleasure of watching (hearing) you on Sing Off and am so glad I tuned in. Instant fan here!

  • Thumbs up if you want Jerry Lawson & The Talk of the Town to win The Sing Off!!!!!

  • Ah, been searching ages for this, here it is! Great!

  • Jerry Lawson is indeed one of the "masters of the game" when it comes to that Doo Wop(ooh wee) style of harmonizing, and a recognized pioneer when it comes to good ol soul music!I'm also a male vocalist, and please believe me when I tell you that Jerry is a "Legend"... JB.Jr.

  • Can't believe some don't use YouTube to learn this is a Curtis Mayfield tune written a year after the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington. Listen to the original Impressions, Chambers Brothers, Al Green, or even Bob Marley's rework of the tune into "One Love".

  • Yall need to look up the Persuasions. Jerry Lawson's first acapella group. They do People get Ready on an lp called Street Corner Symphony and it is amazing.

    This version is nice though

  • I remember seeing this when it aired. I tell ya, Rod Stewart is the bomb.

  • Rod is the best expressive voice soul white

  • What a great rendition of this song. Rod is awesome!

  • Love this version...Rod never ceases to amaze me with that VOICE!

  • it is just people get ready...very good.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this. I remember seeing it when it aired last year. Is this just "People Get Ready" or is it a medley with some other song?
