  • ~ Dear Scott, Are you craaazy or just trying to kill people??!! I kid...I usually do this everyday without the dumbells as part of my pre-cardio warm-up. I do about 100 overall, 50 side to side as you demonstrated & 25 per side in where I stop midway the twist focusing on one side specifically, and I had to stop for 2 days because my Lats were FREAKING SORE not my obliques oddly enough. I am not going to lie, I am looking forward to introducing 10 pnd dumbells, but I am a little a scared. : D

  • Hey man this is a good workout u can also use the cables too right? I have a question for u ..; now dont get me wrong u have a hell of a body but i was gonna ask u like why is ur stomach so wide like ur chest i mean u dont have a wider upperbody then gets thinner down the hip side.

    (im not saying ur fat) but u know what i mean? LIke is there a way we can keep the body thin and without sacrifising the upper body .

    Just keepin a wide chest and thiner on the waist. any ideas?

  • @gordo33 ~ You might want to look into & read up on different body types. As you might already know not everyone is build the same & surely everyones body responds differently to training & nutrion. Now there are 3 basic body types: Ectomorph/Mesomorph/& Endomorph. Though some people fit into one of these 3 it is not rare for others to possess a combination of 2. That said, as long as one is healthy, looks great & like Scott in proportion to his own specific body, what else can one wish for??

  • @gordo33 ~ Well, the only way one can augment their muscles is by lifting heavy dumbells or working with bulky gym machines at 3-4 sets 8-12 reps. Dumbells are excellent for gaining size while cables & resistance bands are better for longer leaner muscles. You could design a program around working your Pecs/Back/Deltoids/Biceps & Triceps with heavy dumbells & introducing waist targeting exercises like Standing External Oblique Crunches with 8 or 10 pound dumbells which algo targets the waist.

  • Scott, PLEASE TAKE A BASIC KINESIOLOGY CLASS! This exercise is ridiculous, because, as with your read delt exercise, the obliques are NOT opposing the direction of resistance. Holding weights, no matter how heavy,(no matter where you hold them) will add nothing to a trunk rotation exercise. since your external obliques are contralateral trunk rotators, if you want to target the right oblique for instance, you would rotate to the left....while using a cable machine.

  • @hhhk20 Agree, and if anything all the weights are doing are helping him with momentum. You should twist from the core, not from the top....

  • @oohypnotiq84oo you ought to be fine as long as you don't bend your back while you do it, and you twist your upper back with your lower back, as your upper back is designed to twist more than your lower back. however, making sure you twist the lower back as well, you'll get it going deeper. as long as you don't hyperextend your lower back, so that it puts tension on your vertebrae, you should be fine :) maybe start slow and get into the groove of it before going at 100% speed?

    No, only cardio will burn fat. Resistance training, such as this, will build and sculpt muscle.

  • will this exercise make my waist bigger? My waist is already pretty big ( 31") due to heavy squats and deadlifts and I dont want to make them bigger. My body fat is not too high, just about 11-13%.

    Do you think heavy squats and deadlifts are enough for the abs ?

  • I did this yesterday after I watched the video and let me tell you that it feels great. Just be careful in chosing the right weight for the dumbbells. DON'T GO TOO HEAVY! Otherwise your arms windle down. Thanks again Scott!

    happened when i was 17 in highschool was in a highschool play and this guy decided the scene was too boring and did some thing i didn't expect in the middle of the play and i went down hard.

    that's nothing compared to the twisted clavicle i got from rugby

  • This is a great excercise; but, to avoid grinding your vertebrae together and risking disk injury, one has to pull the whole spinal column up while doing it. This takes away pressure from the disks. Thanks for your help in teaching us new things and for keeping updating with new videos!!!

  • will this execise help get rid of love handles? I started working out this year after aknee injury doctor said it was most likely due to my weight 5'11 and was 330lbs at the time. Down to 270. I still carry most my weight in the middle. Have gone from a 52 waist to a 44 46 depending on the pants. Any advice you could give would be great.

  • Curious when i do this my back hurts. The broken spinus process on my L2 might have some thing to do with it but that's not where i feel it hurt.

  • Looks like a surefire way to hit those obliques. And it seems it will work out some upper body parts like arms and shoulders...another routine I will definitely include in my new workout plan starting next week. Will update on results. Thanks!

    Have you by chance... Perhaps I shouldn't say anything. It might make you a bit self conscience. What the hell! Im sure youre able to MAN-UP to any occasion. So, have you by chance noticed that you are beginning to morph a bit; from that sweet, innocent, boyish charming look towards a more mature (but still handsome and masculine) manly persona. Your last birthday kind-of put you over the hump I guesssigh (I know how you must feel) ;P

  • Part Two:

    Of course part of a successful youthful look is being fit. So pump that iron stud (wink, wink). Also, when are you going to let your chest hairs (body hairs) grow back in as part of your new "manly-man" looks?
